Nike Releases “FlyEase” Version Of The LeBron Soldier 10
By Tim Ryan
This week marked the release of Nike’s latest installment of the LeBron Solider 10s, this time by incorporating the already lace-free shoes with FlyEase technology.
If you’re not familiar with the concept, the gist of FlyEase is rather simple. Instead of lacing up, the shoe features a wraparound zipper and an adjustable strap to make hoop life super easy when putting these things on or taking them off.
Especially if you take off your shoes during games as frequently as Dennis Rodman famously did.
Here’s how they work:
One of the greatest aspects of these Soldier 10s is that it allows individuals with limited physical abilities to put on the shoe without the difficulty they might run into when it comes to a standard lacing sneaker.
That convenience, right there, brings us to what is easily the best part of this particular release.
Yesterday at the Cavs practice facility, LeBron took some time off from dominating the NBA to dominate LIFE by gifting free pairs of sneakers to patients from the Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital.
Just watch this short clip from Nike’s YouTube page and tell me you still hate LeBron James:
It’s honestly impossible.
If you didn’t get chills while watching that, I’m not sure you’re actually alive.
Seriously, look at the sheer delight on the faces of these amazing kids:
Here’s one more for good measure:
LeBron summed up the touching gesture perfectly. From ESPN:
"“It’s about us empowering every kid and everybody to understand that we are all athletes,” says James. “For myself and Nike to be able to collaborate on a project like this has been special since the very first time it was brought to the table.”"
Again, amazing work by Nike and King James.
As for the shoe itself, it comes in three colors:
- Black/Gum Medium Brown/Metallic Dark Grey
- White/Metallic Silver/Blue Ice/White
- Game Royal/Black/White
Of the three, the black version is my personal favorite and that’s probably due in part to the medium brown gum that aptly completes the circle.
Nice and clean always wins out.
It’s also my favorite because the patterning is subtle, unlike the white version seen below.
The blue one is, well … blue.
A distant 3rd place for sure.
The LeBron Solder 10 FlyEase shoes are available now and can be all yours right here for $140, which isn’t all that bad considering the innovation this latest iteration includes and the fact that The King wears them on a nightly basis.
But mostly because each and every week another Jordan Retro drops and will — more often than not — cost you anywhere from $190 to $350.
