NFL Draft rumors: Browns, Jets and Mitchell Trubisky
By Conor Myles
Looks like the Cleveland Browns are serious about making a run at one of the top quarterbacks in the draft.
The Cleveland Browns are still in search of a franchise quarterback to lead the team and make the organization finally come full circle under head coach Hue Jackson’s lead.
The Browns hold the first and twelfth overall selections in the first-round of the 2017 NFL Draft and are widely expected to select defensive end Myles Garrett with their first selection.
The team seems prepared to make a run at a quarterback they covet and are prepared to move up from pick No. 12 to secure his talents.
Charlie Campbell of WalterFootball has reported that the Browns are in talks with the New York Jets to move up in the draft and land the Jet’s sixth-overall pick.
"“Cleveland is trying to trade its second-round pick, No. 52 overall, and the first selection in the fifth round, No. 145. With the sixth pick, the Browns are believed to want Trubisky,” Campbell states. “Cleveland is concerned that the Jets or the Bills (at pick 10) would take Trubisky before Cleveland is on the clock at 12. Even if Trubisky goes off the board earlier to the 49ers (2) or the Bears (3), the Browns may want to do the trade in order to land Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson before Buffalo is on the clock.”"
This report does make sense, especially when you consider the interest the Buffalo Bills have shown for North Carolina’s stud quarterback prospect Mitchell Trubisky.
The Browns brass also reportedly is at odds at who they’d like to select with the first pick between Garrett and Trubisky, so if this report is true clearly the team favors Trubisky among the quarterbacks in the draft class.
