DraftKings Main MLB Picks For May 6

There are still 12 games in the main DraftKings tournament tonight. Three games are threatened by rain right now. Make sure to follow us on Twitter as we will keep you updated with the weather and any lineup changes!

More from DFS

The money line last night was at 114.25 last night. All three lineups did pretty well, but only one placed. Michael Fulmer and Stephen Strasburg propelled my lineup while Kendrys Morales and his 41 DraftKings points put me comfortably in the money.

The winning lineup was at 208.5. It was the only lineup over 200 points! He used Fulmer and Chris Archer along with big nights from Paul Goldschmidt, T.J. Rivera, and Aledmys Diaz for the win.

NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. The highest scorer of the day could be someone with no experience against his opponent. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players. Check out this post from Matt McGarvey for great tips about whether to use a hot player in DFS or not.

DraftKings
Apr 30, 2017; Cleveland, OH, USA; Seattle Mariners designated hitter Nelson Cruz (23) celebrates his solo home run in the second inning against the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field. Mandatory Credit: David Richard-USA TODAY Sports

P: Clayton Kershaw ($14,200):Ā Kershaw has absolutely dominated the Padres. They are hitting just .146 with a .191 wOBA against him in 82 at bats with a whopping 26 strikeouts. Ryan Schimpf did manage to hit a homer off of Kershaw once, but he has only allowed four other runs. The math is simple: if no one gets on base, no one scores. Kershaw has a 1.92 ERA in 11 career starts at PetCo Park. Look for a huge game from him tonight!

P: Jesse Hahn ($7,600):Ā Hahn has pitched well against the Tigers so far in his career. They are only hitting .231 with a homer and four runs in 52 at bats. Hahn doesn’t put up many strikeouts, but he has a career 2.97 ERA at home. You can take the risk with the resurgent JC Ramirez against Houston, but I am riding the safer pick in Hahn trying to get in the money tonight.

C: Ā Evan Gattis ($3,700):Ā Gattis is 3-6 with a walk, two homers, three runs scored, and three RBI against JC Ramirez so far. He has by far the best past stats of any catcher tonight. He looks like the best bet right now, or at least the most sure thing.

1B: Danny Valencia ($3,300):Ā Valencia is 6-16(.375) with three walks, a double, a homer, five runs scored, Ā and five RBI against Martin Perez. He fits in nicely with my Mariners stack.

2B: Rougned Odor ($3,800):Ā Mariners aren’t the only ones worth stacking in Seattle tonight. the Mariners are sending young righty Chase De Jong to the mound, so Rangers lefties are in play as well. Odor’s 13th inning home run last night vaulted me into ninth place in the late tournament last night. I owe it to him to play him tonight!

3B: Kyle Seager ($3,800):Ā Despite the lefty-lefty split, Seager is 14-32(.438) with three walks, a double, four homers, eight runs scored, and seven RBI against Martin Perez already. The Mariners have a lot of potential in this game. I want some exposure to this one, and Seager’s price is right here.

SS: Jordy Mercer ($3,100):Ā Jordy Mercer is only 3-15 off of Matt Garza, but he has a walk, a homer, two runs scored, and five RBI against him. He is putting up a whole lot of positive points lately. I will take a shot that he does again against Garza.

OF: Nelson Cruz ($4,200):Ā Cruz crushes left handed pitching. Martin Perez is no exception. Cruz is 6-12 with two walks, a double, three homers, six runs scored, and four RBI against Perez in his career. Nellie is off to a bit of a slow start, but I’m thinking you wont notice with tonight’s production.

OF: OF: Franklin Gutierrez ($3,400):Ā Gutierrez is 9-18 with a double, a homer, four runs scored, and two RBI in his career against Clayton Richard. The game of Claytons in San Diego could be a pitcher’s duel because of the Dodgers’ struggles against lefties, but you can bet Gutierrez will at least get something out of this.

OF: Michael Morse ($2,700):Ā This is just a punt play in a Kershaw lineup. Morse has light tower power, and is facing a lefty at a hitter’s park. It is worth the dart throw to see if he lands one. When he makes contact, he hits the ball very hard.Ā UPDATE:Ā Morse not starting. I am moving to Aaron Hicks.

DraftKings
Apr 25, 2017; Pittsburgh, PA, USA; Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Gerrit Cole (45) delivers a pitch against the Chicago Cubs during the first inning at PNC Park. Mandatory Credit: Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

P: Gerrit Cole ($9,600):Ā Cole has only faced two current Brewers in his career. Ryan Braun and Domingo Santana. They are a combined 1-12, but the hit is a Braun homer. Chad Kuhl was shutting down the Brewers last night before the rain hit. If the rain stays away, Cole could dominate the suddenly dormant Brewers.

More from FanSided

P: Jordan Zimmermann ($6,300):Ā Zimmermann has really struggled this year with a 6.18 ERA, but the move to spacious o.Co Coliseum should only help. Facing an offense as soft as the A’s should help a little too. I’m not expecting a big game score from Zimmermann, but he is better than he has pitched so far this year. The A’s are only hitting .237 in 38 at bats against Zimmermann with the only damaged being a two run homer Yonder Alonso hit off him while a member of the Reds. He is worth the risk to pay for a Coors stack.

C: Francisco Cervelli ($3,100):Ā Cervelli is 4-12 with a walk, a double, and four runs scored against Matt Garza. There is a chance of rain, and a chance that Garza gets knocked around. I don’t want to have to redo my whole lineup at 6:55 eastern, so I am only using Cervelli. If the game is in danger, I’m flipping to Caleb Joseph.

1B: Matt Carpenter ($3,800):Ā Carpenter is 4-10 with a double, a homer, two runs scored, and two RBI against Julio Teheran in his career. Teheran continues to struggle against lefties. Carpenter seems like the best option outside of Coors Field tonight.

2B: DJ LeMahieu ($4,800):Ā LeMahieu is 10-30 with two walks, two triples, two homers, five runs scored, and four RBI against Patrick Corbin. Tyler Anderson actually has a better ERA at Coors Field than on the road, so I am more leaning towards Rockies over Diamondbacks tonight. This is also a bit of a contrarian play since most are on Arizona.

3B: Kris Bryant ($5,000):Ā Nolan Arenado is just 4-29 in his career against Patrick Corbin, and Jake Lamb is facing a lefty, so I will fade Coors and go with Bryant against left handed rookie Jordan Montgomery at Wrigley. There is just as much chance for success with a lower ownership percentage.

SS: Trevor Story ($4,600):Ā Story is 2-5 with three walks, a homer, three runs scored, and two RBI against Corbin already. I will gladly add him to my right handed Coors stack!

OF: Ian Desmond ($5,000):Ā Desmond is only 2-7 against Patrick Corbin, but Ā he has never faced him at Coors Field. Desmond does have a homer and two RBI against Corbin anyway. He could pad those stats tonight in what look to be favorable hitting conditions.

OF:Ā Adam Duvall ($4,300):Ā Young lefty Ty Blach could have his hands full with the Reds tonight. Duvall has a lot of power. I’m taking another shot at a homer from a power hitter in a hitter’s park with the platoon split.

OF: Marcell Ozuna ($3,400):Ā Ozuna is 2-5 off of Robert Gsellman already. Both hits are home runs, and he has driven in four. Gsellman has yet to find the success that he had late in 2016. Stacking Marlins could be a nice alternative if you aren’t willing to pay up for the Coors stack.
