DraftKings MLB Picks For May 12
We have a full 15 game slate tonight in DraftKings. There are aces, but Clayton Kershaw is in Coors, so all bets are off. However, his salary is down $3,000. Is he worth using at that price? Where are the favorite stacks? How about some bargains? We have you covered!

The surprise postponement of the Nationals-Orioles game sank the money line to 112.05. One of my lineups was comfortably in at 124.15 despite having Dylan Bundy. It’s hard to do that when you get zero from a pitcher! The other lineup was light on offense…..and pitching for that matter.
The winning lineup was down as well to 196.95 DraftKings points. He used Zack Greinke‘s great game against the Pirates and had at double digit DraftKings points from everyone but Lucroy, who had nine.
These picks are based mostly on statistical analysis . If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players. Check out this post from Matt McGarvey for great tips about whether to use a hot player in DFS or not.

Next: DraftKings Main Lineup 1

P: Danny Duffy ($8,600): Duffy has been absolutely dominant against the current Orioles. They are hitting a pathetic .132 against him in 76 at bats with just one homer, four runs, and a dazzling 32 strikeouts. The Royals are struggling to score runs, so don’t look for Duffy for the win, but he should do everything else for you tonight. Despite all the right handed power, the O’s still struggle against lefties.
P: Miguel Gonzalez ($8,000): The current Padres have only faced Gonzalez 29 times, but they have just five hits and no runs. Wil Myers owns all the strikeouts, but he also has a great shot at the win against Jhoulys Chacin. You know, the guy with a 10.72 road ERA this year. Come to think of it, stacking White Sox is a good idea, but there will be a lot of people doing the same.
C: Salvador Perez ($3,400): Perez is 5-14 with a homer, two runs scored, and four RBI in his career against Chris Tillman. Tillman himself is a solid option tonight if he can avoid Perez and Mike Moustakas taking him deep. They are a combined 10-27 with two homers against him.
1B: Anthony Rizzo ($4,900): Rizzo is 15-40(.375) with three walks, four doubles, two homers, eight runs scored, and nine RBI already against Mike Leake. The current Cubs have scored 26 runs in only 166 plate appearances against Leake. There will be plenty of blue on the basepaths. Rizzo will have a lot of opportunities to bring them home.
2B: Jose Ramirez ($4,000): Edwin Encarnacion has smacked three homers off of Ervin Santana so far, but I like Rizzo’s matchup a little better. I am going to get a little exposure to Ervin here with Ramirez. Ramirez is 9-16(.562) with a double, a triple, three runs scored, and a whopping seven RBI against Santana so far. These numbers are too good to ignore.
3B: Joey Gallo ($4,500): I thought about Moose here, but Gallo is 3-6 with a walk and a solo homer against Jesse Hahn already. He doesn’t make this kind of contact against just anyone. There is a great chance Gallo takes him out of the yard again in Arlington tonight.
SS: Asdrubal Cabrera ($4,100): It’s a Met stacking day against Matt Garza. If Cabrera returns to the starting lineup tonight, I want him in there. He is only 2-8 in his career against Garza, but both of those hits are home runs. That’s a good place to start a stack!
OF: Jay Bruce ($4,600): Bruce is 12-33(.364) with five walks, four doubles, three homers, eight runs scored, and nine RBI in his career against Garza. He has pounded Garza wherever he has went. Miller Park isn’t great for left handed power, but Bruce can hit it out of anywhere. Especially with batting practice fastballs coming his way.
OF: Matt Kemp ($4,100): Jose Urena has allowed the Braves to hit .476 against him in 21 at bats. Ouch! Kemp is 3-4 with a homer and three RBI against him. A Braves stack can sometimes be risky, but it looks warranted today if you are using a stack lineup.
OF: Curtis Granderson ($3,700): Granderson is 9-30(.300) with two walks, four doubles, a homer, five runs scored, and four RBI in his career against Garza. All three of these lefties likely wont go deep at Miller Park, but there will be plenty of baserunners for them to drive in. The Mets are hitting .288 against Garza with 13 walks in 111 at bats.
Next: DraftKings Main Lineup 2

P: Ervin Santana ($8,200): The Indians are hitting .250 against Ervin Santana with six homers and 22 runs in 188 at bats with only 37 strikeouts. So why am I playing Santana? Because he is 5-1 with a 1.72 ERA and 0.79 WHIP this year, and picked up 17.3 DraftKings points in his first start against Cleveland. He got knocked around a little by Boston, but he should get back on track here.

P: Matt Shoemaker ($7,900): Not only is his mound opponent Jordan Zimmerman struggling, but the current Tigers are hitting just .194 against Shoemakers in 67 at bats with no homers and just three runs scored. The 15 strikeouts is a very high percentage as well. These numbers are bordering elite, and you can have it all for a very low price tonight.
C: Yasmani Grandal ($4,500): Grandal got the night off last night. He will be well rested and ready to beat on up Tyler Chatwood again. Grandal is 5-7 with a walk, a double, a triple, a homer, two runs scored, and three RBI against Chatwood so far. You can bet Grandal wont get a zero tonight!
1B: Logan Morrison ($3,600): LoMo is 10-24(.417) with three doubles, a homer, four runs scored, and five RBI in his career against Rick Porcello . Porcello has been better since getting rocked by the Rays on April 14th, but not enough better than I wont stack the team that knocked him around a month ago. Morrison is hot right now. Porcello can’t put out this fire!
2B: Brad Miller ($4,000): Miller is 7-23(.304) with two walks, two doubles, four homers, six runs scored, and eight RBI in his career already against Rick Porcello. Miller has a lot of power, and has shown it consistently against Porcello.
3B: Nolan Arenado ($4,900): Clayton Kershaw is somewhat mortal when he is throwing from a mountaintop. His career numbers at Coors Field aren’t very good (4.59 ERA and 1.23 WHIP).. Arenado is 13-39 with two walks, three doubles, two homers, five runs scored, and four RBI in his career against Kershaw. Nearly all of those counting stats have come in Denver.
SS: Tim Beckham ($3,300): This is a punt play at short, but Beckham usually hits near the top of the order. He will get driven in a lot by the guys behind him if the history against Porcello holds up.
OF: Cody Bellinger ($4,900): Chatwood struggles against lefties, and Bellinger is still hitting everything in sight. Adrian who? Oh, right…..the guy making 154 million. Now I remember.
OF: Andrew Benintendi ($4,600): Benintendi is 1-3 with a double and a run scored against Alex Cobb. That alone is not enough for me to play him. This is based off of how well Benintendi is playing right now. He has 87 DraftKings points over his last six games, and has averaged 11 DraftKings points per game against the Rays this year.
OF: Corey Dickerson ($3,900): Dickerson is 7-22(.318) with three doubles, a homer, two runs scored, and two RBI off of Porcello. He is also leading off, which puts him on base a lot for his teammates to drive him in. Dickerson continues to feast off of righties. Porcello may not be as bad as he was on April 14th, but he will get up a handful of runs still.
