MLB DFS Value Plays for DraftKings and FanDuel May 23rd

I’ll be looking to uncover the most obvious MLB DFS Value Plays on each slate, and each site. Value plays will generally consist of under-priced players, or players priced differently on a given site. Some values will be in play on both sites, some will only be values on one specific site. Note that value tends to carry higher ownership and may be worth a fade in specific GPP contests.

Tonight’s slate features 15 games, with Arizona (6.1), Boston (5.3), Houston (5.2), and Washington (5.1), holding the best projected team totals. With high-priced players available tonight, finding value will be critical for success. Here are a handful of value plays on both DraftKings and FanDuel.

DraftKings MLB Values:

Steven Souza – TB (OF) – $3200

Steven Souza is priced at a discount on DraftKings tonight, relative to FanDuel. Souza has not seen the fantasy production that we would be looking for, but because of this, he’s seen his price fall roughly $900 since the middle of May. If we dig into his batted ball stats, we can see that he’s still hitting the ball around his averages, if not better. While Souza may not be the best stand alone play, he’s worth considering if you’re looking to target players who have seen their salaries diminish due to variance.

FanDuel MLB Values:

Jose Ramirez – CLE (3B) – $2900

Like Souza, Jose Ramirez, has seen his pricing on FanDuel take a nose dive. Over the course of this month, Ramirez’s price has fallen over $1000 to where it stands today at $2900. His batted balls stats, of late, lineup close to his yearly averages, therefore we can assume that he’s been a victim of variance. With the Cleveland team total around 4.8 runs, Ramirez could be in a get well spot, for cheap tonight.

Trea Turner – WSH (SS) – $3500

Washington will play host to the Seattle Mainers, in a game in which the Nats are projected to score 5.1 runs. Turner should be leading off for Washington, and be in an advantageous position to produce, given his splits against righties. Turner, a righty, has fared much better in reverse splits against right-handed pitching, with a .386 wOBA split and a .244 ISO split.
