MLB DFS Value Plays for DraftKings and FanDuel May 26th

I’ll be looking to uncover the most obvious MLB DFS Value Plays on each slate, and each site. Value plays will generally consist of under-priced players, or players priced differently on a given site. Some values will be in play on both sites, some will only be values on one specific site. Note that value tends to carry higher ownership and may be worth a fade in specific GPP contests.

Tonight’s slate features 14 games, with St. Louis (5.5), Boston (5.4), and New York (5.4), holding the best projected team totals. With high-priced players in play, finding value will be critical for success tonight. Here are a handful of value plays on both DraftKings and FanDuel.

DraftKings MLB Values:

George Springer – HOU (OF) – $3600

Houston will play host to the visiting Baltimore Orioles tonight, in a game in which the Astros have a projected team total of 5.2 runs. In general, Houston’s batters are priced down on DraftKings tonight. George Springer is quite cheap, given the team total and his spot in the order (1st). While Springer doesn’t draw the best matchup, against a righty, he should still offer value at this price.

Carlos Correa – HOU (SS) – $4100

Carlos Correa went deep last night, and even with the dinger, his price has dropped to $4100. Correa was priced up in the $5000 earlier this month, and given the near, $1000 decrease, the power hitter is far too cheap on DraftKings.

FanDuel MLB Values:

Jose Ramirez – CLE (3B) – $2700

Jose Ramirez’s price continues to plummet, while his batted ball stats remain close to his yearly averages. Ramirez, priced at $2700 on FanDuel, is now down $1300 from his price of $4000 in the beginning of May. If we saw a drop off in how well he was hitting the ball, it would indicate a justified price drop, but given that his distance is up 13 feet, his hard hit percentage is up 2%, and his exit velocity is up 2 MPH, we can assume Ramirez has been dealt an awful hand of negative variance.

Eric Thames – MIL (1B) – $3500

Eric Thames took the league by storm, homering in, seemingly, every game to start the year. Thames hasn’t gone deep since the 9th of May, and has therefore seen his price fall to $3500. We know that the public tends to ride ā€œhotā€ batters, and given Thames’ price and power upside, we could be getting one the best power hitters in the game at a low price, with low ownership. Thames is also much cheaper on FanDuel, relative to DraftKings.

Dexter Fowler – STL (OF) – $3700

The St. Louis Cardinals will head to Denver tonight, to take on the Rockies. St. Louis holds the best team total on the slate, at 5.5 runs. Dexter Fowler is a cheaper option on FanDuel, at only $3700. Fowler offers value given the total and his spot in the order, 1st. Fowler is another slumping batter, who has lacked fantasy production, but has actually hit the ball significantly better. Over the last 15 days, his distance is up 10 feet, his hard hit percentage is up 17%, and his exit velocity is up 3 MPH, over his yearly averages.
