MLB DFS Value Plays for DraftKings and FanDuel June 2nd

I’ll be looking to uncover the most obvious MLB DFS Value Plays on each slate, and each site. Value plays will generally consist of under-priced players, or players priced differently on a given site. Some values will be in play on both sites, some will only be values on one specific site. Note that value tends to carry higher ownership and may be worth a fade in specific GPP contests.

Tonight’s slate features 14 games, with Cincinnati (5.2), Detroit (5.2), Boston (5.1), and Atlanta (4.9), holding the best projected team totals. With high-priced players available, finding value will be critical for success tonight. Here are a handful of value plays on DraftKings and FanDuel.

DraftKings MLB Values:

Kole Calhoun – LAA (OF) – $2600

After going deep twice last night, there is no doubt that Kole Calhoun will garner ownership, but he’ll also offer value on DraftKings. Calhoun’s price continues to fall and he’s now $800 cheaper than he was in mid May. Calhoun is simply too cheap, given his spot in the order (second), and his matchup against the righty, Kyle Gibson.

Nick Castellanos – DET (3B) – $3100

Detroit is tied for the highest team total on the slate and third baseman, Nick Castellanos, should benefit. Castellanos has struggled mightily of late, but tonight could be a prime opportunity to change that. Castellanos is projected to bat fourth, and with the team total of 5.2 runs, Castellanos will provide value tonight.

FanDuel MLB Values:

Francisco Lindor – CLE (SS) – $3400

Francisco Lindor is extremely under-priced on FanDuel relative to DraftKings. Cincinnati has one of the best team totals on the slate, thus leading me to believe that Zack Cozart will be the popular choice at shortstop. If so, you could be getting Lindor at a cheap price, with depleted ownership.

Brandon Phillips – ATL (2B) – $2600

Brandon Phillips is one of the best value plays on the slate, as FanDuel did not adjust his price based on Atlanta’s match-up. Atlanta is projected to score 4.9 runs, and if Phillips is batting in the two hole, he should be a beneficiary. Phillips has also seen a jump in his recent batted ball stats, leading us to believe that his recent fantasy production may not be indicative of the quality of his at bats. In the last 15 days, his distance is up 27 feet, his hard hit percentage is up 6%, and his exit velocity is up 5 MPH, over his yearly averages.

Justin Bour – MIA (1B) – $3500

Justin Bour hasn’t seen the salary decreases that some of the other players have, but he’s much cheaper on FanDuel than DraftKings, at only $3500. Miami has a favorable projection against Arizona, with a 4.7 run team total, and Bour, batting fifth, should stand to gain. Bour a lefty, has found much more recent success against lefties this year, as he currently holds a .435 wOBA split and a .327 ISO split.
