MLB DFS Value Plays for DraftKings and FanDuel June 8th

I’ll be looking to uncover the most obvious MLB DFS Value Plays on each slate, and each site. Value plays will generally consist of under-priced players, or players priced differently on a given site. Some values will be in play on both sites, some will only be values on one specific site. Note that value tends to carry higher ownership and may be worth a fade in specific GPP contests.

Tonight’s slate features eight games, with Houston (5.3) and Washington (5.2), holding the best projected team totals. With high-priced players available tonight, finding value will be critical for success. Here are a handful of value plays on both DraftKings and FanDuel.

DraftKings MLB Values:

Brian McCann – HOU (C) – $3200

Houston will take on the Royals tonight, in Kansas City, where they have the highest team total on the slate, of 5.3 runs. Brian McCann could draw another start tonight, given his performance last night and his favorable matchup against a righty. Last night McCann went deep and tallied a total of 27 DraftKings points. McCann has provided even more firepower for the Houston offense, including two homers runs since returning from a concussion in late May. At only $3200 McCann is much cheaper on DraftKings, relative to FanDuel.

Kyle Seager – SEA (3B) – $3900

Kyle Seager finally found himself on the favorable side of variance in his last two outings, recording home runs in each of his last two games. I touched on how well he was hitting the ball, but with little results to be shown, and sure enough the big fantasy nights came. Seager will find himself in another advantageous match-up against the righty, Kyle Gibson. Seager holds a .348 wOBA split and a .198 ISO split against righties.

FanDuel MLB Values:

Robinson Cano – SEA (2B) – $3500

Robinson Cano is another Seattle lefty who should benefit from facing the righty, Gibson. Seattle has a projected team total of 4.8 runs, which may indicate that these lefties will have success tonight. Cano is severely under priced on FanDuel compared to DraftKings and could offer value for a moderate price. At only $3500, this is the cheapest price that he’s been in the last 15 days.

Lance McCullers – HOU (P) – $9700

It’s no secret that Lance McCullers is an optimal play tonight, but it’s important to note how much cheaper he is on FanDuel, than DraftKings. DraftKings has elected to price him up due to the matchup with the Royals, whereas FanDuel has him priced similarly to where he’s been priced in the past. McCullers has done an excellent job of keeping runs off the board, and holds the seventh best ERA in baseball at 2.71.

These results are no fluke, as evident in his batted ball stats. For the year his opposing distance is 184 feet (Best on the slate), his opposing exit velocity is 88 MPH (Best on the slate), and his opposing hard hit percentage is 24% (Best on the slate). However the most impressive has been his fly ball percentage. Over the course of the last year, McCullers has only allowed 19% of batted balls to be fly balls. If McCullers can keep the ball down and continue his strikeout success, he’ll offer tremendous value on FanDuel

*Note Phillies pitcher today, Ben Lively, ranks higher in some batted ball stats, but was excluded due to an insufficient sample size.
