MLB DFS Value Plays for DraftKings and FanDuel June 9th

I’ll be looking to uncover the most obvious MLB DFS Value Plays on each slate, and each site. Value plays will generally consist of under-priced players, or players priced differently on a given site. Some values will be in play on both sites, some will only be values on one specific site. Note that value tends to carry higher ownership and may be worth a fade in specific GPP contests.

Tonight’s slate features 14 games, with Boston (5.6), Cleveland (5.3), Washington (5.1), Arizona (5.1), and Pittsburgh (5.1), holding the best projected team totals. With high-priced players available tonight, finding value will be critical for success. Here are a handful of value plays on both DraftKings and FanDuel.

MLB DFS – DraftKings MLB Values:

Jose Bautista – TOR (OF) – $3500

The Toronto Blue Jays will head to Seattle to take on the Mariners, in a game in which Toronto holds a projected team total of 4.5 runs. Toronto outfielder, Jose Bautista, is extremely under priced on DraftKings at only $3500. Bautista was priced around the $5000 mark to start the month, and is now the lowest price he’s been in the last 15 days. Bautista is one of the few batters who has reverse splits, and tends to fair better in match-ups against a right-handed pitcher. He’ll face a righty tonight, and on the year, he holds a .362 wOBA split and a .206 ISO split.

Evan Longoria – TB (3B) – $3500

Evan Longoria is another righty, who can still excel in matchup against right-handed pitchers. Tonight, he’ll face righty, Andrew Triggs. Tampa Bay has a projected team total of 4.5 runs and Longoria should offer value at this price. Like Bautista, this price is as low as he’s been in a while. In evaluating these salary changes, we need identify if the drop is due to actual poor batting, or just a string of bad variance. In Longoria’s case, it would appear as if his recent results are more a product of variance rather than the quality of his at bats. In the last 15 days, his distance is only down 11 feet, his hard hit percentage is up 1%, and his exit velocity is down only 1 MPH.

MLB DFS – FanDuel MLB Values:

Matt Carpenter – STL (1B) – $3100

The month of June was not too kind to Matt Carpenter, until he recorded a home run in each of his last two games. Carpenter, and the Cardinals offense, hit a tough stretch, but will be in an advantageous spot tonight, with a projected team total of 4.9 runs. Carpenter is much cheaper on FanDuel, and offers power upside at a moderate price. He’ll face a righty tonight, where he holds a .361 wOBA split and a .231 ISO split.

More from FanSided

Andrew Benintendi – BOS (OF) – $2900

The Boston Red Soxs hold the best team total on the slate of 5.6 runs, as they take on the Detroit Tigers. Andrew Benintendi should benefit, given his matchup against the righty, Jordan Zimmermann. Benintendi mashes right-handed pitching, relative to lefties, and holds a .348 wOBA split (.086 better than when facing a lefty), and a .199 ISO split (.183 better than when facing a lefty). Benintendi should draw a good bit of ownership, as he’s one of the best value plays on FanDuel, at only $2900.

Michael Brantley – CLE (OF) – $3500

Cleveland’s team total has risen to one of the best on the night, as they opened as -235 favorite and are now -250. The game total has also increase by a full run. While it appears to be public money, it’s still worth noting. Michael Brantley is a much better bargain on FanDuel, relative to DraftKings and will also offer stolen base upside against a right-handed pitcher. The matchup against the righty, Miguel Gonzalez, favors Brantley, as he holds a .368 wOBA split. Gonzalez has struggled of late, and his recent opposing batted ball stats would justify the results. In the last 15 days, his opposing distance is up 13 feet, his opposing hard hit percentage is up 21%, and his opposing exit velocity is up 5 MPH.
