DraftKings Early MLB Picks For June 11

We have eight more early games today with a couple of aces in the early DraftKings tournament Are any of them worth using? Where is the best stack? Will the Yankees score 16 runs again? Lets check some stats and try to find out!

More from DFS

The money line was way up to 129.6 DraftKings points in the afternoon slate. There were several great pitching performances, headlined by Carlos Martinez‘s shutout of the Phillies. My Martinez lineup still didn’t make it in because my Mets/Angels stack didn’t come through.

The winning lineup was a respectable 227.75 points, which was 11 points higher than second place. He used Mike Fiers with Martinez despite Fiers’ less than stellar numbers against the Angels. It paid off big, as did his Royals stack and Yoenis Cespedes.

These picks are based mostly on statistical analysis . If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players. Check out this post from Matt McGarvey for great tips about whether to use a hot player in DFS or not.

DraftKings
Jun 6, 2017; St. Petersburg, FL, USA; Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Chris Archer (22) throws a pitch during the fifth inning against the Chicago White Sox at Tropicana Field. Mandatory Credit: Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports /

P: Chris Archer ($12,200): Archer’s career numbers against Oakland are nothing to write home about. They have hit .308 off of him in 26 at bats with Stephen Vogt taking him deep. However, he does have seven strikeouts and only five A’s have faced him. The other four may not fare very well. Archer has a 3.06 ERA at home this year. Oakland is not a great offensive team. Archer looks like the best bet of the early slate.

P: Aaron Nola ($6,000): Nola’s inconsistency makes him a risk every time he takes the hill, but he has held the Cardinals to a .222 average in 18 at bats with just a solo homer by Dexter Fowler as the damage done. Nola is not a big strikeout pitcher, but he has been outstanding on the road this year. Nola has a 3.54 ERA in five road starts. I will take that against a team that he has pitched well against anyway.

C: Caleb Joseph ($2,200): Masahiro Tanaka was pushed back to avoid facing an Orioles team that beat him up last week. That’s right. The Yankees would rather take a chance with Chad Green than roll Tanaka out there again. Green has a nice 2.16 ERA in 8.1 home innings this year, but he likely wont go deep into the game. He also had a 4.73 ERA in five AAA starts this year. I want some Orioles today! Considering that Welington Castillo just came off the DL, I doubt they put him out there in the day game after a night game. That makes Joseph a great punt play at this price.

1B: Logan Morrison ($4,800): Morrison’s career year continues. He is just 1-7 in his career against Jesse Hahn, but he has slugged seven homers at home so far this year. Against Hahn, it is always a possibility. The Rays have hit .290 against Hahn in 31 at bats, though he has never pitched at Tropicana Field. How will he fare there?

2B: Jose Ramirez ($4,500): Ramirez is 9-27 with a walk, three doubles, three runs scored, four stolen bases and a RBI in his career against Jose Quintana. With his power potential and propensity for stealing bases, Ramirez appears to be the clear top option at the keystone this afternoon.

3B: Yunel Escobar ($3,500): Escobar is hitting cleanup against a pitcher that struggled against the Royals his last time out. The price is definitely right on this one.

SS: Tim Anderson ($3,800): I don’t quite have the stomach to stack White Sox against Carlos Carrasco even though they have blasted eight homers in just 131 at bats, but I have no reservations about using Anderson at this price. He is 6-16 with a double, a homer, a steal, three runs scored, and three RBI against Carrasco already. I will settle for fading Carrasco and using the leadoff hitter against him since I don’t trust a full stack.

OF: Corey Dickerson ($4,800): Dickerson is 3-7 with a double, a homer, and three RBI already against Jesse Hahn. Dickerson has hit everyone this year, but has especially feasted on average right handers. Hahn fits that bill.

OF: Odubel Herrera ($4,100): Herrera is 3-6 with a solo homer and three runs scored in his career against Adam Wainwright. Herrera continues his scorching June, and Wainwright was pounded in his last outing. Advantage: Herrera.

OF: Josh Reddick ($4,100): Reddick is 3-7 with a solo homer against Jesse Chavez. Chavez has pitched well against the Astros in his career, but this is the most dangerous offense in the league. I want some exposure here.

Jun 6, 2017; Baltimore, MD, USA; Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Ivan Nova (46) throws a pitch in the second inning against the Baltimore Orioles at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Mandatory Credit: Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports /

P: Jake Arrieta ($8,700): Arrieta has not pitched well against the Rockies in his career, but that is largely skewed by his 14.54 career ERA at Coors Field. Arrieta has a 3.04 ERA at home this year, and it is at 2.26 in his career. Even with the struggles Arrieta has had this year, he has still been money at Wrigley. He could be a bargain at this price.

More from FanSided

P: Ivan Nova ($6,500): Nova has absolutely dominated this incarnation of the Marlins. The current team is just 1-24 (.042) with five strikeouts. That one hit was a single by Marcell Ozuna. I don’t expect Nova to dominate them quite so badly today, but he has a 2.70 ERA at home. If Nova’s knee is healthy, he is the best bargain on the slate, and it isn’t even close.

C: Welington Castillo ($3,500): There is a chance that the Orioles will DH Castillo today because they need his bat in the lineup. He was 0-3 last night, but he could have a really good day against Chad Green if he is in the lineup.

1B: Matt Adams ($4,000): Robert Gsellman shut down the Braves yesterday, but Adams tallied yet another hit, his 11th of the month so far. He still seems priced way too low, especially at SunTrust Park against a guy making his 2017 debut. Seth Lugo was really good for the Mets last year, but there could be some rust here. I have to play Adams at this price.

2B: Starlin Castro ($4,400): Castro is 9-23(.391) against Kevin Gausman, but surprisingly, he has only driven in one run and scored once. He will occupy an important slot in this lineup today, and the Yankee offense is really cooking right now. Stacking against Gausman is a solid play.

3B: Wilmer Flores ($3,700): Flores has beat up on Jaime Garcia in his career. Garcia is a solid play today since he owns great platoon splits against lefties. That said, I expect Flores to get something. He is 4-10 with a double, two homers, three runs scored, and five RBI off of Garcia already. Any Mets right hander is in play today.

SS: Andrelton Simmons ($4,200): David Paulino struggled against the Royals his last time out after a pretty good opening start of the year. The Angels are not nearly as potent without Mike Trout, but they are still as good or better than the Royals. I want their leadoff hitter for sure!

OF: Aaron Judge ($5,300): Judge is 3-9 with two walks, two homers, three runs scored, and three RBI already against Kevin Gausman. Gausman has a dreadful 7.71 road ERA in six starts and has surrendered six homers in just 25.2 innings pitched. Want more? Yankee Stadium has been a personal house of horrors for Gausman. He owns a 6.00 ERA there in ten appearances with seven homers allowed.

OF: Yoenis Cespedes ($4,600): Cespedes had a triumphant return from the DL yesterday, and could build on that against Jaime Garcia, who is struggling against righties again. Cespedes is just 1-7 with a walk and a double off of Garcia, but he is always a threat to go deep.

OF: Brett Gardner ($5,000): Gardner is 12-37(.324) with two walks, two doubles, a homer, five runs scored, a steal, and two RBI against Kevin Gausman. Gardner has averaged 13 DraftKings points per game in ten games against Baltimore this year. For whatever reason, he has the Orioles’ number.
