MLB DFS Value Plays for DraftKings and FanDuel June 12th

I’ll be looking to uncover the most obvious MLB DFS Value Plays on each slate, and each site. Value plays will generally consist of under-priced players, or players priced differently on a given site. Some values will be in play on both sites, some will only be values on one specific site. Note that value tends to carry higher ownership and may be worth a fade in specific GPP contests.

Tonight’s slate features nine games, with Boston (6.3), Baltimore, (5.6), Minnesota (5.6), and Washington (5.5), holding the best projected team totals. With high-priced players available tonight, finding value will be critical to success. Here are a handful of value plays on both DraftKings and FanDuel.

DraftKings MLB Values:

Jose Pirela – SD (2B) – $2300

Jose Pirela has been on fire since being called up to the Padres, and will offer value tonight at this price, on DraftKings. Pirela has homered in each of his last two games, and has added a surprising spark to the San Diego offense. While San Diego doesn’t the greatest projected team total, Pirela should be batting in the lead off spot, and draw a favorable matchup against the struggling, Bronson Arroyo.

Mark Trumbo – BAL (OF) – $3700

The Baltimore Orioles will take on the Chicago White Sox tonight, in a game in which Baltimore is projected to score 5.6 runs. This is the second highest projection on the slate, and outfield Mark Tumbo should benefit. Trumbo will be batting cleanup and should be able to take advantage of a great matchup vs. the righty, Mike Pelfrey. Trumbo holds reverse splits and hits righties better than lefties. He now holds a .342 wOBA split and a .241 ISO split. His price has fallen a bit of late, and at this price, he should be considered on DraftKings.

FanDuel MLB Values:

Stephen Strasburg – WAS (P) – $11,400

It’s no secret that Stephen Strasburg is the chalk on tonight’s slate, but he’s considerably cheaper on FanDuel, relative to DraftKings. FanDuel continues to knock down the prices of elite arms, and Strasburg owners will benefit tonight. Washington will host Atlanta tonight, who has the lowest projected total on the slate (3.6). Strasburg has strung some impressive outings together recently and has only allowed more than three runs once this year. This success is clear in his batted ball stats as he ranks first on the slate in opposing hard hit percentage, at 27% and first on the slate in opposing exit velocity, at 89 MPH.

More from FanSided

Andrew Benintendi – BOS (OF) – $2800

Andrew Benintendi got the night off last night, but should return to the lineup, as the Soxs will face the righty, Jerad Eickhoff. Benintendi is much more productive against righties, with a .341 wOBA split (.079 better than when facing a lefty) and a .194 ISO split (.178 better than when facing a lefty). His price has plummeted all the way down to the $2800 price tag he holds on FanDuel tonight. In late May he was priced near the $4000 mark, and should be considered given the pricing discrepancy.

Ian Happ – CHC (2B) – $2600

Switch hitter Ian Happ has sat out of the last two games for the Cubbies, but should return to the lineup tonight, as they’ll face a righty. Happ has seen much more success against right-handed pitching and holds a .353 wOBA split and a .302 ISO split. The Cubs have a tough matchup against deGrom, but Happ, who was $3500 a few weeks ago, is far too under-priced.

13 feet, his opposing hard hit percentage is up 21%, and his opposing exit velocity is up 5 MPH.
