MLB DFS Value Plays for DraftKings and FanDuel June 27th

I’ll be looking to uncover the most obvious MLB DFS Value Plays on each slate, and each site. Value plays will generally consist of under-priced players, or players priced differently on a given site. Some values will be in play on both sites, some will only be values on one specific site. Note that value tends to carry higher ownership and may be worth a fade in specific GPP contests.

Tonight’s slates features 13 games, with Boston (6), Houston (5.9), Toronto (5.7), and Seattle (5.2), holding the best projected team totals. With high priced players available tonight, finding value will be critical to success. Here are a handful of value plays on both DraftKings and FanDuel.

DraftKings MLB Values:

Matt Carpenter – STL (1B) – $3700

Arizona will host St. Louis again tonight, in a game in which the Cards are projected to score 4.5 runs. While this isn’t the most enticing total, first baseman, Matt Carpenter, is underpriced on DraftKings relative to FanDuel. Carpenter will draw another favorable matchup against the righty, Zack Godley. Carpenter holds a .365 wOBA split and a .235 ISO split against right handed pitching. Carpenter averages .051 home runs per at bat, therefore providing power upside for a moderate price.

Shin-Soo Choo – TEX (OF) – $3800

Another lefty facing a righty pitcher, Shin-Soo Cho is extremely cheap on DraftKings tonight, at only $3800. In the last few weeks has been priced into the mid $4000’s and is now available at a discount tonight. Like the Cardinals, Texas doesn’t have the best team total, but Choo could still provide value given his splits vs. righties and his spot in the order (1st).

Alex Avila – DET (C) – $2800

Alex Avila is always in play when facing a right handed pitcher, but is in a particularly good spot tonight, as the Tigers have a projected team total of 5.1 runs.

More from FanSided

Avila crushes righties, with a .423 wOBA split and a .275 ISO split. Avila is also priced down on FanDuel tonight at only $2800. In the last few weeks he was priced as high as $3600. Not only does this appear to be the right buying opportunity, but Avila also provides the power upside needed in tournaments, for a sub $3000 price tag.

Gregor Blanco – ARI (OF) – $2700

Gregor Blanco is one of the more attractive punt plays tonight, as he should be leading off for the Diamondbacks. Arizona has a fairly high team total at 5.2 runs, so if Blanco can get on base, he could return value. Blanco will benefit from positive splits vs. a righty, as well as his stolen bases upside against a right handed pitcher. Blanco averages .111 stolen bases per game.

Josh Reddick – HOU (OF) – $3200

Houston has one of the best team total of 5.9 runs, and lefties like Josh Reddick, should benefit. Reddick fairs much better against lefties with a .357 wOBA split. Reddick’s price has remained the same of late, but his batted ball stats have gone way up, indicating that he may be underpriced. In the last 15 days, his distance is up 22 feet, his hard hit percentage is up 21%, and his exit velocity is up 2 MPH.
