DraftKings Main MLB Picks For July 15

The other 13 games make up the main tournament tonight, and if you thought all of the aces went this afternoon, think again. Even without Severino, Sale, and Fulmer, this is a very strong slate. Who should we build our lineups around? Let’s check out some stats!

More from DFS

The money line yesterday returned with a bang at 126.7. My best lineup just missed because of a poor start by Brandon McCarthy. The other suffered the wrath of a failed Rays stack.

The winning lineup was a solid 213.85 DraftKings points. He used Charlie Morton with Jacob deGrom and made it big stacking the Brewers-Phillies game with a sprinkling of Bryce Harper.

These picks are based mostly on statistical analysis . If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players. Check out this post from Matt McGarvey for great tips about whether to use a hot player in DFS or not.

ARLINGTON, TX – APRIL 21: Cole Hamels #35 of the Texas Rangers throws against the Kansas City Royals in the first inning at Globe Life Park in Arlington on April 21, 2017 in Arlington, Texas. (Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images) /

P: Alex Wood ($11,800): How’s this stat: Wood has given up one run or less and gone at least six innings in each of his last four starts. Oh, and he is 10-0 with a 1.67 ERA and 0.89 WHIP. Do you even care what the Marlins’ career numbers are against him? I don’t, but they are better than expected. They are hitting .254 against Wood in 118 at bats, but only have two homers (both by Giancarlo Stanton, but he is just 3-23 off of Wood) and seven runs scored. Wood may even get a bit of a park upgrade by heading to Marlins Park. I like Wood over anyone else tonight. Yes, even Scherzer.

P: Cole Hamels ($9,000): The Royals are only hitting .147 against Hamels in 75 at bats with no homers and just three runs with 20 strikeouts. After a subpar June, Hamels has dominated in July, allowing only two runs in 14.1 innings while striking out 12 in his two starts. This looks like another very favorable situation for Hamels tonight.

C: Yan Gomes ($2,800): Gomes is a starter in a potent lineup going against a rookie pitcher. I needed to save to pay for pitching, so I figured I would roll the dice with Gomes as one of the better potential bargains at catcher.

1B: Joey Votto ($4,400): The Reds are surprisingly hitting .292 in their careers against Max Scherzer. Now, I’m not going to go completely rogue and stack Reds, but I will fade Scherzer because of this, and take Votto, who has the only Reds homer off of him. Votto is 4-8 with a walk, a double, that homer, two runs scored, and three RBI against Scherzer. This is as cheap as you will ever see Votto, so count me in!

2B: Josh Harrison ($3,800): Harrison is 10-26(.385) with three doubles, two homers, seven runs scored, and three RBI in his career against Lance Lynn. He wasn’t always hitting high up in the order like he will be tonight. Harrison could put up some nice numbers for his price against Lynn.

3B: Todd Frazier ($3,900): Frazier is starting to come around a little, hitting three homers and driving in seven in his last ten games. His average is always going to suffer, but the power coming around is a good sign. He is also 3-5 with two walks, two homers, and four RBI against King Felix in his career. In fact, the White Sox are hitting .358 in their careers against Felix Hernandez, so the Sox could be an underrated stack tonight.

SS: Dansby Swanson ($2,600): Patrick Corbin has not pitched well on the road this year, but he finds himself in a nice situation tonight with him holding a big platoon advantage over nearly all the power for Atlanta. One place that he does not have that is with Swanson. You see, lost in Swanson’s disaster of his first full season is the fact that he is hitting .304 with four homers, two homers, and seven RBI in just 46 at bats against left handed pitching. I like his odds against Corbin tonight, whose road woes could flare up in a hitter’s park.

OF: David Peralta ($4,400): Some people will try to get cute and not recommend the same player over and over. I am not one of them. When someone deserves recognition, they get it. Once again, Peralta is on here because of the way he hits right handed pitching. He only picked up one hit last night in his first try at SunTrust Park, but that was against a knuckleballer. They can be tricky. Tonight he gets the hard throwing Mike Foltynewicz, whom he is 3-5 with a double, a homer, and five RBI off of in his career.

OF: Melky Cabrera ($3,700): Melky is 8-25(.320) with two walks, two doubles, a triple, five runs scored, and three RBI in his career against Felix Hernandez. The price is right to see if he can hit him again.

OF: Yoenis Cespedes ($3,500): Cespedes is one of three Mets that have taken Tyler Chatwood deep, so at this price, I have no issues with playing him to see if he can do it again. And, you know, just in case Chatwood gets raked over the coals again like he did at Dodger Stadium before the break.

KANSAS CITY, MO – APRIL 19: Starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner #40 of the San Francisco Giants pitches during the 2nd inning of the game against the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium on April 19, 2017 in Kansas City, Missouri. (Photo by Jamie Squire/Getty Images) /

P: Madison Bumgarner ($10,500): The long wait is over for MadBum owners, and he gets an absolute gift starting in San Diego against the Padres. That said, Bumgarner has a 3.97 ERA in 15 career games in San Diego. The Padres still are only hitting .155 in 71 at bats against MadBum with just one homer and two runs. I’m a little worried about Bumgarner being on a pitch count, but he could still do a lot of damage to this Padres team in little time.

More from FanSided

P: Tyler Chatwood ($5,800): You can’t really trust any past stats with Rockies because they are littered with what teams have done to them at Coors Field. However, the Mets are hitting a disgusting .180 against Chatwood over 50 at bats anywhere. They have slugged three home runs, but remember that Chatwood has the second best road ERA in the majors since the start of last year, posting a 2.34 ERA over 142 innings. This is not a fluke, people. Chatwood is the best bargain on the board tonight.

C: Wilson Ramos ($3,400): The Rays stack didn’t really work last night, but I’m going back to the well tonight with another very average righty on the mound in JC Ramirez. Ramos is still too cheap for what he is capable of. He is also perfect against JC Ramirez with a single, a homer, and two RBI off of him.

1B: Logan Morrison ($4,300): LoMo is only 1-4 against Ramirez, but that one hit is a home run. Morrison is still very reasonably priced for the kind of season he is having, and Ramirez doesn’t scare me one bit.

2B: Robinson Cano ($4,700): Cano followed up his All Star Game MVP performance with a three hit game, including a home run, to open the second half. He is 16-48 with three walks, three doubles, a triple, two homers, eight runs scored, and an impressive nine RBI in his career against Derek Holland. Play him until he cools off!

3B: Kyle Seager ($3,800): Seager is 13-46(.283) with six walks, a double, two homers, eight runs scored, and five RBI in his career against Derek Holland. That’s right, even the Mariner lefties have hit Holland hard, so the entire lineup is in play tonight.

SS: Carlos Correa ($4,800): Not much of the league has been able to hit Ervin Santana, but Correa is not like much of the league. He is much better! He is also 5-7 with a double and a solo home run against Santana in his career. Judging by what the Astros did to Jose Berrios last night, the All Star Break didn’t slow down this offense at all. There is no way I’m starting Santana. An Astros stack could even be a good bet if you can afford it.

OF: Nelson Cruz ($4,800): Cruz is only 6-23(.261) in his career against Derek Holland, but he has wreaked some havoc with those hits. He has two walks, three homers, seven runs scored, and five RBI against Holland, and this is likely the best hitter’s park he has faced him in.

OF: Corey Dickerson ($4,100): Dickerson is also only 1-4 against JC Ramirez, but that hit is also a home run. Dickerson is also way too cheap for the kind of season that he is having and for hitting near the top of a surprisingly potent lineup.

OF: Mitch Haniger ($3,800): There are no stats to support this, but if Haniger is going to get back to his early season form, he should be able to do it against Holland. And if Holland is pushed back, Haniger and the rest of the Mariners should be able to hit Mike Pelfrey as well, so my stack still stands.
