DraftKings Main MLB Picks For July 19

The games are almost evenly split today with seven more games taking place in the main DraftKings tournament. For some reason, DraftKings did not include the Nationals-Angels late game in the main tournament. That means no Trout and no Harper. What gives?

More from DFS

The money line last night was a solid 116.35 points. My lineup with Michael Wacha placed easily. The other was done in by a failed Rangers stack.

The winning lineup was all the way up to 237.25 DraftKings points. He paid up for Brad Peacock, but had huge nights from Chris Davis, and Nick Castellanos to bring home the prize.

These picks are based mostly on statistical analysis . If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players. Check out this post from Matt McGarvey for great tips about whether to use a hot player in DFS or not.

BOSTON, MA – JULY 14: Drew Pomeranz #31 of the Boston Red Sox delivers in the first inning of a game against the New York Yankees at Fenway Park on July 14, 2017 in Boston, Massachusetts. (Photo by Adam Glanzman/Getty Images) /

P: Zack Greinke ($11,700): The Reds are hitting only .232 in 95 at bats against Greinke with three homers and four runs with 19 strikeouts. Greinke dominated the Reds in his last start before the break in Arizona, giving up just four hits and no runs in seven innings while striking out seven. There is no reason for him not to do it again.

P: Drew Pomeranz ($7,200): Pomeranz has dominated the Blue Jays in his career. The Jays are only hitting .176 off of Pomeranz in 51 at bats with a homer and three runs to go with an impressive 16 strikeouts. The Blue Jays aren’t quite as good offensively as last year, but his ERA is nearly a run and a half worse at home. Still, Pomeranz has a 2.95 ERA over his last ten starts.

C: Salvador Perez ($3,700): Few have owned Justin Verlander like Salvie has. Perez is 24-58(.414) with eight doubles, two homers, five runs scored, and a staggering 16 RBI in his career against Verlander. Verlander has a career 2.90 ERA at Kaufmann Stadium, but that wont keep me off of Perez tonight.

1B: Joey Votto ($4,400): Votto has all three homers that the Reds have hit against Greinke and three of the four RBI. Votto is 12-32(.375), but he is the only Red I would consider tonight. I am taking advantage of his low price even if it is against my pitcher.

2B: Ian Kinsler ($3,900): Kinsler is 3-6 with with a walk, a solo homer, and two runs scored against Jason Hammel. Upton and Miggy deserve consideration too if you are interested in a Tigers stack.

3B: Jedd Gyorko ($3,500): You may have noticed the absence of Jacob deGrom. You may have also noticed that I have a couple of Cardinals in here. I have a reason. I promise. The Cardinals are hitting .318 against deGrom with four homers and six runs in 44 at bats. With the premium that deGrom commands over everyone else, I prefer to chase the Cardinals home runs and go with Greinke. Gyorko is 3-6 with with a solo homer and two runs scored against deGrom. I am taking advantage of the Cardinals coming cheap tonight.

SS: Paul DeJong ($3,300): DeJong continues to be a great value no matter who is on the mound. He is perfect against deGrom so far with a single, a double, and a solo homer off of the Mets ace.

OF: Andrew McCutchen ($4,700): McCutchen is 4-8 with two walks, a homer, four runs scored, and four RBI in his career against Zach Davies. PNC Park is a pitcher’s haven, but McCutchen has no issues there. He is hitting .323 with six homers and 23 RBI there this year.

OF: Chris Taylor ($4,200): Carlos Rodon has quietly had a solid year since returning from the disabled list, but the right handed Dodger hitters are in play here tonight. Taylor may be the most dangerous of them all. I expect another pitcher’s duel at a hitter’s park tonight. Taylor is one of the few that could make a difference.

OF: Jackie Bradley Jr. ($3,400): Bradley is 3-9 with a walk, a homer, three runs scored, and four RBI in his career against Aaron Sanchez. Sanchez looked good in his return from the disabled list, but with Bradley’s low price and past history, I will take the chance.

PHILADELPHIA, PA – JULY 05: Starter Gerrit Cole #45 of the Pittsburgh Pirates delivers a pitch in the sixth inning against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park on July 5, 2017 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Pirates won 5-2. (Photo by Drew Hallowell/Getty Images) /

P: Gerrit Cole ($8,900): Cole has had his ups and downs this year, but he has absolutely dominated the Brewers in his career. Milwaukee is hitting just .104 against him in 48 at bats, but they have homered twice. Of course, they have only scored three times because no one is on base. The 13 strikeouts only adds to the allure of Cole at this price. There is risk involved, but the past stats favor Cole as much as anyone tonight.

More from FanSided

P: Kenta Maeda ($7,800): Maeda has endured a rough sophomore campaign, including being exiled to the bullpen for a spell. He wont go deep into this game, but the White Sox are in the bottom three in nearly every offensive category against right handed pitching. Maeda has good strikeout potential and a solid chance at a win. That’s good enough for me at this price.

C: Salvador Perez ($3,700): Catcher is usually a shallow position in full slates, and is even worse in half slates like this. Perez is the alpha and omega at catcher tonight. There is no one else I even considered.

1B: Paul Goldschmidt ($5,600): Goldschmidt is 1-3 agianst Tim Adleman. That hit is a home run. Goldy remains one of the elite hitters, and against a pitcher like Adleman, he will be targeted by many tonight.

2B: Rougned Odor ($3,600): My Rangers stack failed last night, but Kevin Gausman has had a rough year with a 6.39 ERA and 1.79 WHIP. I’m going back to this well again. Odor is 3-9 with three doubles and a run scored against Gausman. The Rangers haven’t got to contribute to his bloated ERA this year. Expect them to take full advantage of this.

3B: Manny Machado ($4,600): Martin Perez may be even worse than his mound counterpart. As far as past stats he is. At any rate, this should be a high scoring game for both teams tonight. Machado is 3-11 with two walks, a homer and three RBI against Perez. All Orioles righties are in play tonight. Even the white-hot Chris Davis may be an option despite facing a lefty.

SS: Elvis Andrus ($4,100): Elvis is 5-12 against Gausman, but all of the hits are singles and he has only scored once. That said, Andrus will be near the top of an order that could score a lot of runs tonight. His speed doesn’t hurt either.

OF: Mark Trumbo ($4,300): Trumbo is 5-12 with a walk, a double, two homers, and six RBI in his career against Martin Perez. He is also starting to pick it up at the plate with three homers and seven RBI in his last ten games. Expect a solid performance against Perez tonight.

OF: Nomar Mazara ($3,800): Mazara has two singles and a walk in six at bats against Kevin Gausman. Gausman has been slightly better at home, but his home ERA is still very close to 6. The Rangers look great on paper for the third straight night. Can they finally come though tonight?

OF: Shin-soo Choo ($3,600): Choo led off the game last night with a home run. The Rangers got nothing else. Choo is 2-8 with a walk, a homer, and four RBI against Gausman. He is about the only Ranger that has had any success in this series that was supposed to be cake for Texas. I’m definitely taking Choo tonight.
