DraftKings MLB Picks For July 28

We have a full 15 game slate tonight, but there aren’t a lot of aces going. There are values all over the place. Who can save us money and still give us production so we can stack against weaker pitchers? Let’s check out some stats!

More from DFS

The money line last night was down a bit to 118.5. My Cubs stack made it in. The other lineup was a mess thanks to not having Kyle Schwarber.

The winning lineup actually spent on Jon Lester, but he had Derek Dietrich as opposed to Kris Bryant. The only other Cub he had was Schwarber.

These picks are based mostly on statistical analysis . If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players. Check out this post from Matt McGarvey for great tips about whether to use a hot player in DFS or not.

ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA – JULY 15: Corey Dickerson #10 of the Tampa Bay Rays hits a single in the first inning against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at Angel Stadium of Anaheim on July 15, 2017 in Anaheim, California. (Photo by Stephen Dunn/Getty Images) /

P: Alex Wood ($11,700): I was hoping that Wood we be lower priced after getting blasted by the Braves his last time out. Still, he is clearly the top option tonight. His ERA is still stellar at 2.17 even though he now has a loss on his record. The Giants haven’t really hit anyone this year, and without Eduardo Nunez, the offense is even more toothless. Add to that the fact that Matt Moore has a 7.61 road ERA, and Wood is practically guaranteed a win here.

P: Jaime Garcia ($6,900): Garcia couldn’t ask for better circumstances with which to make his debut with his new team. The A’s are only 7-33(.212) against Garcia with two runs and seven strikeouts. Oakland also strikes out a lot against left handed pitching, and the Coliseum is one of the most cavernous parks in baseball. If Garcia can’t succeed here, he could have a very hard time anywhere in the American League.

C: Salvador Perez ($3,400): Perez is about the only Royal that has really hit David Price. He is 5-14(.357) with a walk, three homers, and four RBI in his career against Price. The rest of the team has only one homer and four RBI in 87 at bats. Price is a solid option, but I definitely want Perez for this low of a price provided he is in the lineup.

1B: Matt Holliday ($3,900): Austin Pruitt has a 6.25 ERA in relief this year, and it balloons to 6.75 on the road. Now add to that the fact that he is pitching in Yankee Stadium. You want at least some exposure to Pruitt. I’m a little leery of Aaron Judge since his slump seems to be getting worse instead of better, but they are plenty of cheaper Yankee bats that could have a big impact tonight.

2B: Daniel Murphy ($5,100): How’s this for a stat line: Murphy is perfect against German Marquez with two singles, a triple, and five RBI against him. The Nationals stand to have another strong game against him even if the game is at sea level. If you can afford a Nationals stack, it is not misguided. If you do have one, Murphy belongs as its cornerstone.

3B: Jedd Gyorko ($3,500): Gyorko hit a two run homer against Robbie Ray last year. For this price, I will take the chance that he can do it again.

SS: Andrelton Simmons ($3,900): Simmons is 2-5 with a homer and two RBI so far against J.A. Happ. While the chances of Happ getting blasted by the Angels like he did Cleveland in his last outing are slim, the Angels have enough right handed power to make this interesting.

OF: Corey Dickerson ($4,000): No, I have not forgotten that Dickerson is in a slump. However, he is 8-18(.444) with a walk, two doubles, three homers, four runs scored, and six RBI in his career against Masahiro Tanaka. Tanaka has been far from consistent this year, and he boasts a bloated 5.37 ERA on the year. Let us not forget that Yankee Stadium is perfect for left handed power. I love Dickerson at this price.

OF: Clint Frazier ($4,000): Frazier is catching on at the major league level, hitting .310 in his last ten games and .290 overall. He has moved up to second in a lineup that could score a lot of runs tonight. For this price, Frazier is definitely worth a look.

OF: Seth Smith ($3,600): Smith is almost a chalk play whenever an average right hander is on the mound. Andrew Cashner certainly fits that bill. Smith is 3-7 with two doubles, a homer, two runs scored, and two RBI in his career against Cashner. I am hoping that one this large of a slate that Smith will go largely unnoticed with so many other options.

PHOENIX, AZ – JULY 23: Robbie Ray #38 of the Arizona Diamondbacks delivers a first inning pitch against the Washington Nationals at Chase Field on July 23, 2017 in Phoenix, Arizona. (Photo by Norm Hall/Getty Images) /

P: Jose Quintana ($9,800): Only five current Brewers have faced Jose Quintana in his career. They are a combined 7-30 with one run scored and five strikeouts. Quintana’s first start as a Cub was a really good one. Don’t be surprised if this one is as well. Milwaukee has a lot of left handed power which should be neutralized in this one, and they are always a free swinging team.

P: Robbie Ray ($9,400): The Cardinals hit Ray well in his only start against them, but that was in Arizona and it was last season. This year, Ray has a stellar 1.51 road ERA in nine starts. The Cardinals are a solid offensive team, so this carries some risk, but there is a very high reward potential when you factor in Ray’s strikeouts. I would say the reward outweighs the risk tonight.

C: James McCann ($2,700): The split between McCann and Alex Avila seems to be a straight platoon, so we should feel confident that McCann will be out there. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that he is 2-4 with a walk, a homer, and four RBI in his career against Dallas Keuchel. Keuchel may be a little rusty coming off of the DL, so any other Tiger righties you feel like throwing out there may be decent picks due to their depressed prices.

1B: Edwin Encarnacion ($5,100): Encarnacion is 7-20 with two walks, two doubles, three homers, four runs scored, and eight RBI in his career against Derek Holland. Holland has been bludgeoned over his last ten starts after starting the season strong. In his last ten games, Holland is 1-6 with a 8.18 ERA in 47.1 innings pitched. That’s right, he isn’t even averaging five innings per start. This is a good night to stack Indians.

2B: Robinson Cano ($4,400): Rafael Montero owns a 5.19 ERA in 20 appearances (six starts) this season. He has given up nine earned runs in his last three starts, so he hasn’t been terrible, but Cano still seems priced way too low here. He is facing an inexperienced right hander at home, and the Seattle offense is starting to get going.

3B: Joey Gallo ($3,700): Gallo is all or nothing. We know what we are getting into here. However, Chris Tillman has had an awful season and has shown no signs of righting the ship. His ERA is 8.20 in his last ten starts and 7.01 on the season. Not bad enough? How about Tillman’s 12.33 road ERA in four starts? That is not a typo. He really has been that bad this year. Gallo is made for situations like this. Fortunately, he is poor enough against good pitching to keep his price reasonable on nights like tonight.

SS: Alcides Escobar ($2,600): Escobar is 4-13(.308) with two doubles and a RBI in his career against David Price. I know that isn’t much, but he is dirt cheap. If we can get a hand full of points out of him tonight, we are ahead of the game.

OF: Giancarlo Stanton ($5,600): Stanton is 0-3 in his career against Sal Romano, and they are in a pitcher’s park. I don’t care. When Stanton is hitting like he is right now, every pitcher is a glorified pitching machine. He has nine home runs since the All Star Break. Do you really think Romano can keep him in the yard? Me either.

OF: Nelson Cruz ($3,500): Cruz is slumping right now, but this price is still way too low for what he is capable of. I will take my chances with Cruz at this bargain price.

OF: Nick Williams ($3,200): Julio Teheran still  struggles against left handed hitters. Fortunately for him, the Phillies don’t have many. Odubel Herrera is only 3-18 against Teheran, and he was the main left handed threat. However, now they have Williams. who is hitting .309 since his call up and .357 with three homers and a staggering 17 RBI over the last ten games. He is priced way too low against Teheran tonight.
