DraftKings MLB Picks For July 31

We have eight games tonight. The early game is not involved in any tournaments, but fear not, we still have some good options out there. Just make sure to keep an eye on everything. Melky Cabrera was moved before the lineups locked yesterday. Sonny Gray is the subject of many trade rumors, but he is not the only one! The safest option is to avoid that situation all together, but if you have the time, it could pay off big time.

More from DFS

The money line yesterday afternoon was at 111.7. My lineup with Luis Castillo and Charlie Blackmon made it in. The other was undone by 4.05 combined points from my pitchers.

The winning lineup was at 212.15. He used Davies with Castillo and had a huge Rockies/Nationals stack topped off with Steve Pearce

These picks are based mostly on statistical analysis. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players. Check out this post from Matt McGarvey for great tips about whether to use a hot player in DFS or not.

BALTIMORE, MD – JULY 20: Starting pitcher Cole Hamels #35 of the Texas Rangers throws to a Baltimore Orioles batter in the second inning at Oriole Park at Camden Yards on July 20, 2017 in Baltimore, Maryland. (Photo by Rob Carr/Getty Images) /

P: Sonny Gray ($11,700): The Giants are hitting just .226 against Gray in 31 at bats with a homer and two RBI to go with seven strikeouts. If Gray makes this start, he is the clear top option against the scuffling Giants. Gray’s ERA is nearly a run lower at home. Expect a strong start from him unless he is dealt before the 4pm eastern trade deadline. If anything changes in my lineups, I will post on Twitter before the lock time.

P: Cole Hamels ($8,400): The Mariners are hitting .244 against Hamels in 156 at bats, but they do have seven homers and 15 RBI. The 35 strikeouts are a bit low, but Hamels wont wow you with a ton of strikeouts anyway. Hamels has a brilliant 2.88 ERA in five home starts even though he has struggled on the road. When you add in the fact that he is facing a struggling Felix Hernandez, and Hamels in a strong play today. If he isn’t traded, that is.

C: Russell Martin ($3,600): Don’t look now, but the Blue Jay offense is showing signs of life. Martin is 6-25(.240) with three walks, to homers, and seven RBI in his career against James Shields. Shields has allowed a dozen homers in his last ten games, including five in his last four. You can count on a least one homer here. Shields has also given up four runs or more in five of his last six starts. This looks like a good day to stack Blue Jays because they are still cheap!

1B: Lucas Duda ($4,400): Duda is 3-8 with two walks, a double, two runs scored, and four RBI in his career against Charlie Morton. Duda is 3-7 with four walks, two homers, and three RBI in three games with his new team. I am betting on him to keep rolling.

2B: Ryan Goins ($2,800): Goins is seeing plenty of at bats lately, so I am using him as a good punt play with upside against a bad pitcher. It doesn’t hurt that he is in a lineup that is practically guaranteed a half dozen runs. There is a good chance that Goins is going to be involved somewhere.

3B: Rafael Devers ($3,300): The Red Sox have proven that they are going to keep Devers in the lienup most days. Mike Clevinger has had a solid season, but he struggled in his last start. Devers is a solid play for this price.

SS: Wilmer Difo ($4,000): Jose Urena has been solid at home, but Difo has been taking advantage of his increased playing time. He has hit so well that the Nats have him at second in a very potent order. That sounds good to me!

OF: Corey Dickerson ($4,200): Dickerson is 5-12 with two runs scored and a solo homer in his career against Charlie Morton. Morton is a good pitcher so I’m not going with a full on stack, but I definitely want a couple of the Rays’ lefty power bats in there.

OF: Jose Bautista ($4,000): Bautista is 10-34(.294) with five walks, a double, five homers, seven runs scored, and eight RBI in his career against James Shields. Bautists is in the midst of an awful slump, but it is only a matter of time before he breaks out. Shields will provide a lot of help in that area.

OF: Steve Pearce ($3,400): Pearce hit two grand slams last week. Count me in against Shields! He obviously has the power.

KANSAS CITY, MO – JULY 20: Starting pitcher Danny Duffy #41 of the Kansas City Royals pitches during the 1st inning of the game against the Detroit Tigers at Kauffman Stadium on July 20, 2017 in Kansas City, Missouri. (Photo by Jamie Squire/Getty Images) /

P: Danny Duffy ($8,900): Duffy has dominated the Orioles so far in his career. They are hitting just .182 against him in 99 at bats with only one homer and five runs to go with a staggering 37 strikeouts. Duffy has struggled on the road lately, but he did hold the Tigers to only one run in Detroit his last time out. Camden Yards isn’t much of a pitcher’s park, but Baltimore hasn’t been scoring a lot of runs lately. Duffy should at least give us a quality start with close to double digit strikeouts.

More from FanSided

P: Michael Fulmer ($8,100): Fulmer dominated the Yankees in his start against him last year, but that was last year. Except for a hiccup at Kansas City on July 20, Fulmer has a quality start in every outing since June 8th. He also has a nice 2.92 ERA on the road, even after the poor outing in KC. I’m thinking that was the outlier, and that Fulmer should land a quality start at low ownership and a decent price.

C: Bruce Maxwell ($2,700): Maxwell is very cheap despite how well he has hit since taking over as the starting catcher. Matt Cain has been awful on the road this year. Despite the fact that Oakland is a great pitcher’s park, I want at least some exposure to Cain. It may be more if I am forced to retool my lineups because of trades.

1B: Eric Hosmer ($5,000): Hosmer is 11-30(.367) with eight walks, a double, two homers, a steal, five runs scored, and seven RBI in his career against Ubaldo Jimenez. The Orioles keep throwing Ubaldo out there. Every fifth day, that makes my job pretty easy. Stack against him!

2B: Robinson Cano ($3,600): Cano is 9-32(.281) with three homers, five runs scored, and four RBI in his career against Cole Hamels. There is a chance that Hamels doesn’t make this start. To me, it doesn’t matter if he does or not. I’m all over Cano for this price no matter who he is against!

3B: Joey Gallo ($3,900): Felix Hernandez is not the pitcher he once was. Gallo has four homers in his past eight games, all of them against right handed pitching. His price isn’t enough of a deterrent on a short slate. I’m using him again.

SS: Elvis Andrus ($4,700): Andrus is 28-96(.292) with nine walks, four doubles, five steals, ten runs scored, and a whopping 15 RBI against King Felix. Expect Andrus to put up some good numbers again tonight.

OF: Michael Brantley (4,900): Brantley is 11-30(.367) with two walks, three doubles, two homers, four runs scored, and five RBI in his career against Doug Fister. The Indians are going to be a popular stack tonight, but I am going with a lesser played one. Due to Brantley’s past stats though, I cant pass on him.

OF: Lorenzo Cain ($4,500): Cain is 9-20 with two walks, a homer, a steal, three runs scored, and five RBI in his career against Ubaldo Jimenez. The Royals offense is starting to come around, so this seems like an opportune time to stack against Ubaldo.

OF: Brandon Moss ($3,600): Moss is 6-16(.375) wiht four walks, a homer, and four RBI in his career against Ubaldo. Moss is good salary relief today. You may be wondering where Salvador Perez is in my stack. Well, he is just 4-25(.160) lifetime against Jimenez. You wont be seeing him in my lineup.
