DraftKings MLB Picks For August 7

We only have seven games tonight, but that doesn’t mean there is a lack of talent. We have one ace on DraftKings, and a couple that could be aces. Where do we stack without a game in Coors Field? Let’s check out some stats! There are some stack-worthy options out there.

More from DFS

The money line was way up at 139.05 yesterday. My lineup had 138.95. The other one tanked because of a failed Tigers stack.

The winning lineup was predictably high at 241.5. He pitted his pitchers against each other, but both Jimmy Nelson and Chris Archer pitched very well. He also had the right Nationals with Matt Wieters and Manny Machado to go with Chris Young and Joey Rickard. Pretty much everyone that had a big day.

These picks are based mostly on statistical analysis . If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players. Check out this post from Matt McGarvey for great tips about whether to use a hot player in DFS or not.

CHICAGO, IL – AUGUST 05: Willson Contreras #40 of the Chicago Cubs hits a two run home run in the 6th inning against the Washington Nationals at Wrigley Field on August 5, 2017 in Chicago, Illinois. (Photo by Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images) /

P: Carlos Martinez ($8,200): Martinez dominated the Royals in his only start against them. Kauffman Stadium is a solid pitcher’s park, and even though the Royals offense has done better lately, the loss of Salvador Perez is going to be huge. Martinez has scuffled a little lately, but this series is a big deal in the Midwest. Expect him to be amped up for this one. Will it help?

P: Brent Suter ($6,400): The Twins are struggling against lefties this year due largely to the struggles of Brian Dozier. They will likely be without Miguel Sano once again, who is really the only power threat against left handed pitching. Suter has a nice 2.92 ERA in 24.2 innings on the road. He may even improve on that against the struggling Twins.

C: Willson Contreras ($4,900): Contreras is hitting .385 with six homers, 18 RBI, and nine runs scored over his last 11 games. Are you kidding? Matt Moore has been better at home, but when his ERA is 5.80, better is a relative term. Cubs righties are in play, even in a hitter’s park.

1B: Eric Thames ($3,900): Thames has slowed down after a torrid start, but he is still 5-16(.312) with a double, two solo homers, and four runs scored in his career against Ervin Santana. Santana’s ERA is over 4 at home, so despite the strikeout upside with Milwaukee there, I am not going to use him. I prefer the upside of Martinez more.

2B: Howie Kendrick ($4,300): Kendrick is perfect against Chris O’Grady with a single, a homer, and two RBI so far. With this game in Nationals Park, Kendrick could certainly build on that.

3B: Kris Bryant ($5,300): Bryant seems to have come out of his slump, though he has still only hit one homer in the last ten games. That could change with a guy like Matt Moore on the mound.

SS: Tim Beckham ($4,600): .Beckham “only” had one hit last night. What a bum! It was his first single hit game since being traded to the Orioles, but he still drove in a run. Now he gets JC Ramirez, whom he had two hits off of in his only game against him. He could begin a whole new multi-hit game hitting streak tonight.

OF: Mike Trout ($5,700): Dylan Bundy finally got out of his miserable July. He was good in his first August start, and gets a nice park upgrade heading out west. The bad news is Trout will be waiting. I’m not stacking Angels since I think Bundy will have a decent outing, but Trout singled, stole a base, and scored in his only at bat against Bundy. I’m guessing he builds on that.

OF: Christian Yelich ($3,500): I am going to enjoy the depressed price on Yelich here with Scherzer on the mound. He is 7-21 with a walk, a double, a triple, two homers, three runs scored, a steal, and four RBI in his career against Scherzer. Understandably, many struggled against Max Scherzer. Yelich is not one of them.

OF: Kole Calhoun ($3,100): Calhoun is too good of a hitter to continue down his current path, right? Right? .231? Seriously? Just in case Bundy reverts to July, I want a little more exposure. Calhoun is priced right, and is still hitting near the top of the order.

CINCINNATI, OH – AUGUST 06: Joey Votto #19 of the Cincinnati Reds hits a three-run home run in the first inning of a game against the St. Louis Cardinals at Great American Ball Park on August 6, 2017 in Cincinnati, Ohio. (Photo by Joe Robbins/Getty Images) /

P: Jake Arrieta ($11,600): Panda is back in the majors, and it’s a good thing he is for the past stats. He is the only Giant to hit a homer against Arrieta. The Giants are hitting just .192 in 78 at bats against Arrieta with six runs and 17 strikeouts. Couple that with the fact that he is squaring off with Matt Moore and practically assured the win, I am going with Arrieta over Max Scherzer. The Marlins are hitting a solid .255 with nine homers and 26 runs in 208 at bats. Those aren’t the numbers I want if I’m paying that much for a pitcher. If this were in Marlins Park, I’m all over Scherzer, but Arrieta looks better with a better matchup in a pitcher’s park.

More from FanSided

P: Trevor Williams ($6,200): The Tigers offense is in the middle of the pack against right handed pitching, and they will be without either Victor Martinez or Miguel Cabrera since they lose the DH. There is risk involved, but Williams has been solid at home lately. A quality start could be in store for Williams, which is a solid return for the price.

C: Matt Wieters ($2,400): Wieters had a monster series at Wrigley over the weekend, yet his price didn’t adjust along with it. I like him against the rookie Chris O’Grady in Nationals Park.

1B: Joey Votto ($5,300): Jhoulys Chacin has been the best Padres pitcher this year, but much of that is due to his stellar 1.86 ERA at home. Chacin still has a horrid 7.35 ERA on the road. Tonight he is in one of the most friendly hitter’s parks in the league. You bet I’m stacking Reds! It starts with Votto and his 11 game hitting streak. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that Votto is 4-16 with a walk, a double, a solo homer, and three runs scored in his career against Chacin.

2B: Scooter Gennett ($4,000): Past stats don’t mean a lot when Chacin’s road splits are what they are. Gennett is in the midst of a breakout season, so hit 1-6 career mark against Chacin isn’t much of a deterrent here. He is also hitting .305 at home compared to .282 on the road.

3B: Anthony Rendon ($4,500): O’Grady got thumped by this same Nationals team just six days ago, and that was in Miami. It has the potential to be even worse in more hitter-friendly Nationals Park.

SS: Wilmer Difo ($3,200): Difo continues to hit higher in the order with Trea Turner still out. You know that he will be in there against the lefty, and he has hit lefties very well this year. Expect that trend to continue.

OF: Adam Duvall ($4,700): Any Reds stack has to contain Duvall, probably the most prolific power hitter on the team. Chacin doesn’t surrender a lot of home runs, but Duvall has the pop to hit one against anyone.

OF: Billy Hamilton ($4,400): Having Hamilton in a Reds stack is usually a good idea. He is the leadoff hitter, and he is always a threat to swipe a base or three. Hamilton has 44 steals on the season, which is 220 points on steals alone!

OF: Hunter Renfroe ($3,700): No matter who the Reds put on the mound to replace Robert Stephenson, I want Renfroe’s power in this park. Too bad Homer Bailey can’t go for the Reds again. After all, he didn’t even make it through three innings yesterday.
