DraftKings Main MLB Picks For August 30

We have nine games in the main DraftKings tournament tonight. The second games of the doubleheaders in Philadelphia and New York are off the boards, as is the Marlins-Nationals tilt in DC. We still have a lot of aced priced pitchers to choose from. Which ones are worth paying for? Let’s check some stats!

The money line last was all the way up to 131.6. The winning lineup weighed in at 221.3. He used Luke Weaver with Chris Sale for a great foundation and had C.J. Cron and Scott Schebler with a mini Twins stack for the win.

We will provide you with several options to build your lineup here. Want to spend all your money on pitchers and play bargain bats? We will highlight who is worth the money. Want to punt arms and pay up for the big boppers? We can help you with that as well, and everything in between!

MIAMI, FL – AUGUST 25: Travis Wood MIAMI, FL – AUGUST 25: Travis Wood #37 of the San Diego Padres pitches during a game against the Miami Marlins at Marlins Park on August 25, 2017 in Miami, Florida. (Photo by Mike Ehrmann/Getty Images) /

Top Tier:

Dallas Keuchel has held the Rangers to a .217 average in 258 at bats with just four homers and 19 runs to go with 61 strikeouts. He also gets a noticeable park upgrade to Tropicana Field. Well, at least it should be. That said, Keuchel has a 4.97 ERA in four career starts at the Trop, and Houston just seemed off last night. They could be again tonight since the town they call home is nearly unrecognizable at this point.

Jose Berrios looked much better in his last outing. Now he gets a White Sox team that he has dominated in his young career. They are hitting just .191 against him in 47 at bats with one homer, four runs, and 18 strikeouts. That and the fact that he is facing the struggling Derek Holland means that there is plenty of upside even at that price.

Jose Quintana has a 4.91 ERA at Wrigley Field in his four starts since the Cubs acquired him. That is not what I want from a guy with a five figure salary. I don’t care that he is facing the Pirates. The chances of him turning in a good start as opposed to a regular quality start or worse are not very good. I will find value in the middle instead.

Robbie Ray has a 4.87 ERA at Chase Field this year, and he is facing a Dodger team that has hit him well so far in his career. I’m not sure I really like either pitcher here at Chase Field, but Ray has at least racked up 42 Dodger punchouts in only 125 at bats. He has a much better chance of success than Hyun-Jin Ryu. I will be avoiding both in my lineups though.

Middle Tier:

Parker Bridwell continues to be a consistent force for the Angels. He has a 2.89 ERA in 14 starts this year. His ERA over the last 10 is 2.87. He has given up only six earned runs over his last four starts. Two of those games were against Baltimore and one was against Houston, so they weren’t bad offenses. Oakland is young and strikes out a lot, but they have some power in that lineup. Still, I’m banking on a quality start at worst from Bridwell.

J.A. Happ has not had a very good year. This we know. However, he has held the Red Sox to a .198 average over 131 at bats with only three homers and nine runs. He wont strike out many which means you are completely sunk if he gives up a lot of runs, but the past stats are favorable as is the fact that he is facing Rick Porcello. Happ is at least worth considering at this price for your second pitcher.

Bargain Pitchers:

Ivan Nova comes much cheaper than usual because of his recent struggles, but he has still dominated the Cubs in his career. They are hitting just .172 off of him in 87 at bats with two homers, four RBI, and a staggering 21 strikeouts. Nova pitched well in his only career start at Wrigley Field earlier this year, allowing only two runs and three hits in 6.2 innings. If you can stomach his recent skid, there may be value here. Or he could implode. I could see either scenario unfolding. However, the past says Nova is a solid play here.

Travis Wood fits right in with the Padres. He has a 1.96 ERA at Petco Park this season and a 7.35 ERA everywhere else. He looks to be in a great spot against a Giants team that can’t really hit anyone right now. This is a great way to save cash. Most others will think so too, but that’s okay. You can get separation from hitters on a nine game slate.

PHOENIX, AZ – AUGUST 27: Paul Goldschmidt #44 of the Arizona Diamondbacks hits a three run homer in the eighth inning against the San Francisco Giants at Chase Field on August 27, 2017 in Phoenix, Arizona. (Photo by Jennifer Stewart/Getty Images) /

Top Tier:

Paul Goldschmidt is 8-19(.421) with a walk, two doubles, a homer, two runs scored, and five RBI in his career against Hyun-Jin Ryu. Goldie should be on everyone’s radar here.

Justin Smoak is 7-27(.259) with three walks, a double, three homers, four runs scored, and nine RBI against Rick Porcello. Miguel Montero is in play at a very low price. Montero is 3-6 with a solo homer off Porcello. Josh Donaldson is in the middle tier. He is 10-33(.303) with a walk, a double, a homer, four runs scored, and two RBI in his career against Porcello.

Middle Tier:

The Royals offense woke up last night. They should stay that way against the struggling Jake Odorizzi tonight. Eric Hosmer is 5-15 with two walks, a double, a homer, five runs scored, and two RBI in his career against Odorizzi. Mike Moustakas is 3-11 with a walk, two doubles, and two RBI against Odorizzi. Salvador Perez is in play here as well. Salvie is 4-13 with a walk and a run scored so far, and is very reasonably priced.

Logan Forsythe is 2-4 with a walk, a homer, and two RBI in his career against Robbie Ray. The best part is that Forsythe is good at either second or third, so it provides ample lineup flexibility.

Panda provides great value here. He is 7-9 with two walks, three doubles, and six RBI in his career against Travis Wood. Buster Posey is 4-15(.267) with a walk, two doubles, a homer, two runs scored, and two RBI off of Wood.

You can enjoy the depressed prices of Mike Napoli and Adrian Beltre tonight, even though they have hit Dallas Keuchel well. Napoli crushes lefties anyway. Keuchel is no exception. Napoli is 4-13 with four walks, a double, a homer, and three RBI against Keuchel. Beltre is even better. He is 17-57(.298) with six doubles, five walks, two homers, six runs scored, and six RBI. Beltre looks like a very nice play tonight.

Evan Longoria is 7-26(.269) with two walks, a double, a homer, and four RBI off of Jason Vargas. Vargas has been awful for the last two months. Stacking Rays, even though they struggle against lefties, could pay off tonight.

Bargain Shoppers:

There are a ton of bargains available from just the Angels alone! C.J. Cron is 4-7 with two walks, two doubles, a run scored and a RBI in his career against Kendall Graveman. Albert Pujols is 10-25 with two walks, a double, a homer, four runs scored, and four RBI against Graveman. Luis Valbuena has been hot lately. He is also 6-15 with two walks, a double, a triple, a homer, four runs scored, and two RBI against Graveman. The best part is that all three of these guys cost only $3,400!

If you stacked Twins last night, you likely came out pretty good. Kennys Vargas is 1-2 with a walk, a homer, and three RBI already against Derek Holland. Joe Mauer has struggled against Holland, but he is about the only one. The rest, especially the righties, are good to go with.

Both San Diego catchers are a combined 4-7 with two doubles, two runs scored, and a RBI against Ty Blach this year. Whoever starts is worth a play at a very low price.

CHICAGO, IL – AUGUST 08: Jose Altuve #27 of the Houston Astros singles in the 9th inning against the Chicago White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field on August 8, 2017 in Chicago, Illinois. The White Sox defeated the Astros 8-5. (Photo by Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images) /

Top Tier:

Brian Dozier is only 3-14 against Derek Holland, but he does have two walks, a homer, two runs scored, and three RBI. Eduardo Escobar is 6-11(.545) with two walks, two doubles, a homer, two runs scored, and four RBI off of Holland.

If Andrew Cashner never saw Jose Altuve again, I think he would be a happy guy. Altuve is 8-15(.533) with two doubles, a homer, a steal, five runs scored, and two RBI. Altuve is the elite play at the keystone again since he is far more consistent than Dozier. Marwin Gonzalez is a bit cheaper, and he is 3-10 off of Cashne even if he doesn’t have any counting stats.

Middle Tier:

Whit Merrifield broke the Royals’ scoreless streak last night. He is 1-2 with a walk and a solo homer already against Odorizzi, so he is good to go with again.

Yolmer Sanchez is 2-7 with a solo homer in his career agaisnt Jose Berrios. He is the only White Sox player to hit a homer off of Berrios so far, and is realy the only one with any sort of success against him.

The Mets don’t really have much of anything left on offense right now, but whatever they do have is worth a look. Perusing the Mets lineup tonight is the equivalent of shopping at a thrift store. Everyone in this lineup is cheap, and they are all facing the struggling Homer Bailey. In theory, you can’t really go wrong here.

Bargain Shoppers:

Enrique Hernandez is 7-20 with four walks, a double, a triple, three homers, six runs scored, and five RBI in his career against Robbie Ray. His $3,400 price feels like stealing. He should be in ALL lineups tonight considering his history against lefties in general and Ray in particular. Chris Taylor is a solid play too. He is 6-10 with a walk and two doubles against Ray. It’s only a matter of time before he gets come counting stats.

Brad Miller is 4-8 with a run scored against Jason Vargas. Given his struggles this season, he may not play against the lefty, but if MIller is in there, he’s worth a dart throw at his price because of the power potential.

ANAHEIM, CA – AUGUST 25: Mike Trout #27 of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim looks on during the national anthem prior to a game against the Houston Astros at Angel Stadium of Anaheim on August 25, 2017 in Anaheim, California. (Photo by Sean M. Haffey/Getty Images) /

Top Tier:

Mike Trout is 8-24 with a double, a homer, a steal, six runs scored, and three RBI in his career against Kendall Graveman. Trout once again looks to be among the elite.

I never thought I would see Byron Buxton more expensive than Mike Trout., yet it has happened. Buxton has been on an absolute tear this month, but I still don’t see him outscoring Trout, even against Derek Holland.

George Springer is 4-13 with two doubles and two runs scored against Andrew Cashner in his career. Cashner has been solid all year, but this is the Astros. They can go off at any time on any pitcher. Carlos Beltran could be worth a look at well. Beltran is 6-13(.462) with a double, a homer, and six RBI against Cashner.

More from FanSided

Middle Tier:

Yasiel Puig is 6-22(.273) with three walks, a homer, two runs scored, and two RBI in his career against Robbie Ray. Lefties Corey Seager, Curtis Granderson, and Adrian Gonzalez are a combined 3-38 against Ray, but there are plenty of righties, who are also cheaper, to attack Ray with.

Adam Duvall homered last night. He could do it again tonight since he is perfect with a walk and a two run homers in his career agaisnt Rafael Montero.

A.J. Pollock comes reasonably priced tonight, and is 6-19(.316) with three walks, a double, a triple, four runs scored, and two RBI against Ryu in his career.

Hunter Pence is still in kind of a funk, but he is 6-21(.286) with a walk, a triple, a homer, two runs scored, and four RBI against Travis Wood. Pence is worth consideration at this price.

Ivan Nova has done well against the Cubs so far, but Kyle Schwarber is 2-4 with two walks and a solo homer off of him. Schwarber is worth a prospective play at Wrigley tonight.

Bargain Shoppers:

I don’t really see a reason not to take a chance with Jabari Blash or Hunter Renfroe. Their power is legit against a rookie lefty that has struggled on the road. There are worse ways to spend your allowance.

Jose Bautista is 16-42(.381) with seven walks, four homers, nine runs scored and 11 RBI in his career against Rick Porcello.

If you are brave enough to use Alex Gordon in the midst of this season, he is 3-11 with a homer and five RBI in his career against Jake Odorizzi. He will also only set you back $2,300, but he is hitting just .199 on the season.

Chris Young didn’t come through last night, but He is 5-15 with five walks, a double, two homers, and five RBI in his career against J.A. Happ. He is another very strong play at a very low price.

If Sean Rodriguez draws a start tonight, he could be a great value. He is 2-4 with a solo homer against Jose Quintana in his career, and he costs just $2,500!
