MLB DFS Value Plays DraftKings FanDuel September 5th
MLB DFS Value Plays DraftKings and FanDuel September 5th
I’ll be looking to uncover the most obvious MLB DFS Value Plays on each slate, and each site. Value plays will generally consist of under-priced players, or players priced differently on a given site. Some values will be in play on both sites, some will only be values on one specific site. Note that value tends to carry higher ownership and may be worth a fade in specific GPP contests.
Tonight’s slate features 15 games, with Colorado (6.9), Cleveland (6), and Boston (5.6), holding the best projected team totals. With high priced players available tonight, finding value will be critical to success. Here are a handful of value plays on both DraftKings and FanDuel.
DraftKings MLB Values:
Ozzie Albies – ATL (2B) – $2300
Since the departure of shortstop, Brandon Phillips, the Braves’ lineup has a different look to it, with Ozzie Albies batting second. Albies has been batting in the two hole since the start of September and should be again tonight. While Albies may not have immense home run upside, he’s the best punt play on the board, given his price and spot in the lineup. The Braves’ have a projected team total of 4.7 runs and with Albies batting second, he should have an opportunity to contribute.
Kole Calhoun – LAA (OF) – $3300
Kole Calhoun has provided consistent fantasy production over the last two weeks and has actually seen his price decrease to $3300. Calhoun should be batting fifth and will benefit from facing a righty, where he holds a .340 wOBA split. Since markets have opened, this game total has jumped up a half of a run, and Calhoun, who is much cheaper on DraftKings, could benefit.
FanDuel MLB Values:
Carlos Correa – HOU (SS) – $3900
Carlos Correa returned to the lineup earlier this week and should start again tonight. Correa is simply too cheap, given he’s one of the best power hitting shortstops in all of baseball. He’s much cheaper on FanDuel, relative to DraftKings at only $3900. Houston has a projected team total of 5.3 runs, and Correa should be able to contribute, given the matchup with a lefty.

Albert Almora – CHC (OF) – $2300
Albert Almora will be the best punt play of the slate, on FanDuel, if he draws the second spot in the lineup again. Almora has a chance to be batting near the top of the order, as he’ll face a lefty tonight. Almora is much more effective against left handed pitching, with a .416 wOBA split (.148 better than when facing a righty). You’ll need to monitor the lineup cards, but Almora could be one of the best values on the slate.
Justin Upton – LAA (OF) – $3400
Justin Upton won’t necessarily draw the best matchup tonight, but he still very cheap on FanDuel. Upton’s power numbers have been impressive this year and he’s averaging .068 home runs per at bat. He’s added valuable production since coming over from Detroit and like Calhoun, he could benefit from a game total that continues to climb.
