DraftKings NFL Bargain Plays is back for Week 3. This is a fantasy football column dedicated to providing value plays with high upside to help you cash in on big prizes in DraftKings tournaments.
Welcome to Week 3 of DraftKings NFL Bargain Plays. Here you’ll find a handful of players from each position who are underpriced and poised to outperform their salary. These bargain plays are ideal candidates when constructing your lineups for DraftKings GPPs.
Week 3 has a Main Slate of 13 games and plenty of tournaments offering large top prizes. Make sure to secure a spot in the NFL Fantasy Football Millionaire and the Fantasy Football World Championship Qualifier.
DraftKings NFL Bargain Plays is a resource for evaluating players with the best chance of finishing the week with a high fantasy points per dollar performance. Not every pick is meant to be used in the same lineup. Use this column to select one or two bargain plays, which allow you to pay up for higher priced stars.
Let’s check out some bargain play quarterbacks.
DraftKings NFL Bargain Plays: Week 3 – Quarterbacks
DeShone Kizer ($5,000) vs. IND
The Browns are the favorite in this matchup, which says enough on its own. The Colts are bad and aren’t showing any signs of getting better. Kizer is a threat in the air and on the ground in a very favorable matchup. Plus, he’s basically free. The Browns lost Corey Coleman to a broken hand last week, but the team has enough weapons to pile up some points. Kizer has three touchdown upside between passing and rushing for dirt cheap. A nice low ownership tournament play.
Carson Wentz ($5,900) vs. NYG
The Eagles score points and can’t run the ball. A perfect combination if you invest in Wentz. To start the season, he’s posted back-to-back 300-plus yard, two touchdown games. The only knock is the turnovers, but its worth the risk when he’s throwing 40 or more times per game. Wentz has a stud tight end in Zach Ertz, he’s starting to click with Alshon Jeffery, and has the electric Darren Sproles out of the backfield. Wentz is also a threat to pick up a few points with his legs (four rushes for 55 yards last week).
Ben Roethlisberger ($6,200) vs. CHI
At $6,200, Big Ben isn’t at the bottom of the barrel. However, if you note that his Week 1 price was $1,100 more than his current price, then you’ll see the value. The Bears rank 28 in DVOA vs. Pass and Big Ben has Antonio Brown, Le’Veon Bell and Martavis Bryant at his disposal. The Steelers have an implied total of 26.5 points and it would be difficult for Roethlisberger to not be part of it.
DraftKings NFL Bargain Plays: Week 3 – Running Backs
Ameer Abdullah ($4,700) vs. ATL
Abdullah received most of the carries last Monday night against the Giants with 17 versus nine from Theo Riddick and three from Dwayne Washington. Abdullah was effective finishing with 86 yards, despite not hauling in a pass. The Falcons rank 31 in DVOA vs. Rush and the game shouldn’t get out of hand on either side. Abdullah should see enough opportunity and at his price tag, the upside value is certainly there.
Isaiah Crowell ($4,800) vs. IND
As I mentioned, the Colts are bad. Crowell should see a season high in touches as the Browns shouldn’t be playing from behind. It’ll comes down to whether or not Crowell can turn those opportunities into points. His salary continues to drop and so should his ownership. The big bodied Crowell excels in goal-line situations, which he should see enough of this week. If Crowell can’t get the job done in this matchup, it’ll be hard to trust him going forward.
Mike Gillislee ($5,700) vs. HOU
Gillislee absorbed the LeGarrette Blount-role and has down extremely well with it, scoring four times in two games. In the first two weeks, he’s seen 15 and 18 carries, which is surprisingly consistent for a Patriots running back. The Patriots are 13-point favorites and should be ahead early. This could be a 20-plus carry day for Gillislee with multi-touchdown potential.
Derrick Henry ($5,300) vs. SEA
This bargain play is entirely dependent on the injury status of DeMarco Murray. If Murray plays, disregard completely. But, if Murray is out, Henry is an easy choice at $5,300. The Seahawks allowed 19.3 DraftKings points to Ty Montgomery in Week 1 and 20.3 DraftKings points to Carlos Hyde in Week 2. Henry has all the makings of feature back except for the fact that he plays on the same team as Murray. A matchup versus the Seahawks would be a nice stage to show his skills.
DraftKings NFL Bargain Plays: Week 3 – Wide Receivers
Rashard Higgins ($4,000) vs. IND
Another position, another Browns playmaker. This should tell you exactly how bad the Colts are. With Kenny Britt getting benched and Corey Coleman suffering from a broken hand, all signs point to Higgins. He’s my choice for being the J.J. Nelson of Week 3. There’s an open opportunity and the matchup is very nice. Higgins should shatter his value being priced at $4,000.
Devin Funchess ($4,200) vs. NO
The Panthers don’t look great on offense, but the Saints are so much worse defensively. Greg Olsen suffered a broken foot last week and Funchess is expected to have the biggest uptick in value. He’s dirt chip with a quality (yet inconsistent) quarterback, playing in a matchup with an implied team total of 27 points. The Panthers offense should get on track in this game and Funchess should see plenty of action.
Davante Adams ($5,600) vs. CIN
Adams had a big game in Week 2 with 23.9 DraftKings points as he was the key beneficiary of Jordy Nelson‘s first quarter injury. Although Nelson appears to be healthy enough for Week 3, there’s a chance that a shoulder injury could keep Randall Cobb out of the lineup. Adams value at $5,600 would be exceptional should either Nelson or Cobb fail to suit up.
DraftKings NFL Bargain Plays: Week 3 – Tight Ends
Evan Engram ($3,200) vs. PHI
Engram was a bright spot in the dismal Giants performance on Monday night. Even with Odell Beckham Jr. on the field, Engram saw enough action to stay busy. Engram was targeted seven times and connected with Eli Manning for a touchdown. The Eagles were crushed by Travis Kelce in Week 2 for 103 yards and a score. The Giants have a lot to fix by kick off, but Engram is one reliable piece they do have.
Jack Doyle ($3,600) vs. CLE
My favorite tight end of the slate and quite possible favorite overall bargain play is Doyle. I can’t see the Colts having to do anything other than throw in this game and any game moving forward. Doyle caught all eight targets last week and will continue to see plenty of looks in the “safety valve” role. Doyle should have high ownership for good reason.

Hunter Henry ($3,900) vs. KC
Now that Antonio Gates has the record for most touchdowns by a tight end, the Chargers can focus on continuing to develop Henry. He is the team’s best receiving option behind Keenan Allen, and we’ve seen how much Philip Rivers likes getting the ball to his tight end. There should be an increase in targets for Henry going forward and he faces the Chiefs defense in Week 3 that gave up 93 yards to Zach Ertz after losing Eric Berry.
DraftKings NFL Bargain Plays: Week 3 – Defense
Eagles ($3,000) vs. NYG
The Giants are miserable offensively. They can’t run the ball and Eli Manning loves to turn the ball over. This is a perfect recipe for a bargain play defense. The Eagles defense showed in Week 1 that they can put up big numbers and are a threat on special teams with Darren Sproles fielded kicks. At $3,000, the Eagles allow you to pay down at defense.
