The deal is done

The Cavaliers have taken their swing for the fences. It has been reported that the Lakers have sent Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. to the Cavaliers for Isaiah Thomas, Channing Frye and the Cavs’ own first-round pick.

Because of The Stepien Rule, the Cavs will also have to hold onto Brooklyn’s pick in this year’s draft. That was their other big trade chip which means Cleveland is probably out on DeAndre Jordan and any other big trades.

The Raptors are after DeAndre Jordan

It would take some creativity and a third partner but Marc Stein of the New York Times is reporting that the Raptors are trying to get in on the DeAndre Jordan action.

— Thursday, Feb. 8, 12:09 p.m.

Indiana wants your picks

Last night, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Indiana Pacers were offering up their cap space for other team’s bad contracts in exchange for a first round pick.

This may be a tough sell, given how tightly teams have been protecting their picks so far this deadline. Al Jefferson’s deal is only guaranteed for $4 million next season, so a team could take him back without actually adding much to their books.

Later, Sam Amick added that DeMarre Carroll and the Nets may be interested in Indiana’s offer.

— Thursday, Feb. 8, 12:04 a.m.

LeBron on the move?

LeBron James has said he won’t waive his no-trade clause. Now ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that the Cavaliers and Lakers are engaged in serious discussions on a trade. Could this be LeBron? (Probably not).

— Thursday, Feb. 8, 12:02 p.m.

Cleveland wants Kemba

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that the Cleveland Cavaliers are pushing hard for Kemba Walker.

— Thursday, Feb. 8, 12:00 p.m.

More point guard help for the Knicks

According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, the Knicks have expressed an interest in trading for Elfrid Payton. The hope is that they could complete the deal without giving up Frank Ntilikina and play the two guards together.

— Thursday, Feb. 8, 11:42 a.m.

A Pistons-Pelicans monster

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that the Detroit Pistons and New Orleans Pelicans are discussing a Dante Cunningham – Brice Johnson swap. Sports Illustrated had reported earlier that Cunningham had requested a trade from the Pelicans.

— Thursday, Feb. 8, 11:35 a.m.

Randle staying put?

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Lakers haven’t been able to pull more than second-round picks in offers for Julius Randle. This could be an indication that he ends up staying in Los Angeles through the deadline.

— Thursday, Feb. 8, 8:45 a.m.

Avery Bradley would look great in black

Marc Stein of the New York Times reported last night that the Clippers are still exploring trading Avery Bradley and that the San Antonio Spurs had emerged as a possible trade partner.

Stein later added these details about a possible swap.

— Thursday, Feb. 8, 8:43 a.m.

Just one team looking for DeAndre

The Clippers may have changed tack yesterday by signing Lou Williams to an extension. This could signal a willingness to DeAndre Jordan. On Sportscenter, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Cavaliers are the only team still pursuing Jordan.

— Thursday, Feb. 8, 8:42 a.m.

Suns are looking to move Marquese Chriss

According to Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders, the Phoenix Suns are talking to several teams about a Marquese Chriss trade, including the Los Angeles Lakers.

— Wednesday, Feb. 7, 1:32 p.m.

UPDATE: Lou Williams is staying in Los Angeles

— Wednesday, Feb. 7, 1:13 p.m.

#Free Willy

Willy Hernangomez requested a trade from the New York Knicks but this is probably not what he had in mind.

The Hornets already have two centers on the roster, Dwight Howard and Cody Zeller, and a big, Frank Kaminsky, who should probably be playing some minutes there as well. This is, hopefully, either the prelude to another Hernangomez trade, or perhaps a deal sending Dwight Howard somewhere else. For the Knicks, this is a middling haul for an extremely young and useful player.

— Wednesday, Feb. 7, 11:38 a.m.

Maybe Lou is staying in Los Angeles?

Lou Williams has been one of the hottest targets in trade deadline rumors but ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that the Clippers are now talking with him about a contract extension that could be finalized before Thursday.

Of course, this could just be a ploy — appearing to take him off the market in an effort to get other teams to up the price their willing to pay for him.

— Wednesday, Feb. 7, 9:43 a.m.

Everybody wants Tyeke Evans

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, talks are heating up around the Memphis Grizzlies’ Tyreke Evans, with the Denver Nuggets, Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat all expressing interest.

— Tuesday, Feb. 6, 3:24 p.m.

Gortat could be on the move

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst is reporting that the Wizards are in discussions with several teams about trading Marcin Gortat. In Windhorst’s words, “the Wizards are looking to improve their team now while not taking on additional long-term money, sources said.” To which all 29 NBA teams likely replied, “same.”

— Tuesday, Feb. 6, 3:18 p.m.

Celtics are after Lou Williams or Tyreke Evans

According to Marc Stein of the New York Times, the Boston Celtics are after Tyreke Evans or Lou Williams, presumably to provide an offensive boost down the stretch. However, they aren’t interested in trading any of their own picks to get a deal down and are reportedly shopping Marcus Smart to get the pick needed to land Evans or Williams.

— Tuesday, Feb. 6, 12:16 p.m.

Tyler Zeller to Milwaukee

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that the Milwaukee Bucks have acquired Tyler Zeller from the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Rashad Vaughn and a protected second-round pick. Vaughn is unlikely to see much time with the Nets given their glut of young wings and his disappointing performance thus far. Zeller may see some time in Milwaukee and it could be interested if this signals the Bucks are no longer pursuing DeAndre Jordan.

— Monday, Feb. 5, 8:00 p.m.

Cavaliers are making offers

We all know that the Cavaliers will be looking to make a deal at the deadline, and that DeAndre Jordan is likely to be one of their key targets. Well know, we know what they’re offering. According to Sam Amick of USA Today, Cleveland offered their own first round pick, J.R. Smith and Tristan Thompson. Obviously, the Clippers weren’t interested or this deal would be done. Smith and Thompson are on expensive deals and aren’t of much use to the Clippers. Maybe if Cleveland offered the Nets pick instead of their own this would be a bit more enticing.

— Monday, Feb. 5, 3:27 p.m.

The Nuggets are interested in Marcus Smart

Marcus Smart is an interesting piece. He would not appear to be indispensable to the Celtics and plus-minus statistics indicate that he has a huge positive effect on his team, despite being a really terrible shooter. Marc Stein of the New York Times is reporting that Denver has contact Boston about Smart, but that the Celtics’ asking price may be too high.

— Monday, Feb. 5, 1:20 p.m.

#FreeWilly

According to Yahoo’s Shams Charania, Willy Hernangomez has a requested a trade from the New York Knicks. Hernangomez was a pleasant surprise as a rookie last season but has been buried in Jeff Hornacek’s rotation behind Enes Kanter and Kyle O’Quinn this year, playing just 231 total minutes.

— Monday, Feb. 5, 12:06 p.m.

Aaron Gordon could be moving?

The Orlando Magic are at the bottom of the Eastern Conference and nearly every player could be on the trading block. Aaron Gordon is the most promising of the team’s young assets but it looks like even he could be on the move. Mike Scotto of The Athletic has reported that Orlando is looking at the possibility of trading him.

— Sunday, Feb. 4, 11:07 a.m.

Shabazz Muhammad has had enough

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski has reported that Shabazz Muhammad is unhappy with his role and has requested that the Minnesota Timberwolves move him by the trade deadline.

"Muhammad re-signed with the Timberwolves last offseason with hopes of a substantial bench role, only to find Thibodeau reverting to the longstanding practices of shorter bench rotations and heavy starter minutes that became a staple of his five years as Chicago Bulls coach."

— Sunday, Feb. 4, 11:05 a.m.

Malik Monk is already headed out?

Gery Woelfel of the Racine Journal Times is reporting that the Milwaukee Bucks have inquired about Hornets rookie Malik Monk.

"League sources said the Bucks had contacted the Hornets about rookie Malik Monk, the 11th overall pick in last June’s draft. There is apparently a split in the Hornets’ hierarchy as to whether they should keep Monk or move him. Monk has struggled for much of the season, averaging a pedestrian 5.2 points on just 33 percent shooting.Monk’s best game of the season came against the Bucks on Nov. 1. He torched them for 25 points, connecting of five of eight treys."

— Thursday, Feb. 1, 12:49 p.m.

Joe Johnson will see you on the other side, one way or the other

Marc Stein of the New York Times is reporting that Joe Johnson would like an escape route from the sinking Utah Jazz.

Johnson definitely still has juice as a bench scorer and should be a prime target for several teams if he does get bought-out after the deadline. The trade possibilities are slightly smaller just because of the size of his salary.

— Thursday, Feb. 1, 11:12 a.m.

76ers interested in Tyreke Evans?

Marc Stein of the New York Times has reported that the Philadelphia 76ers are interested in trading for Tyreke Evans, but that their unwillingness to give up a first round pick is a sticking point.

Evans is in the last year of his deal which would indicate Philadelphia is either very eager to solidify a playoff berth this year or willing to commit to Evans this summer on a new contract.

— Wednesday, Jan. 31, 11:34 a.m.

Not so fast Nikola Mirotic

Nikola Mirotic has been scorching the nets since returning from the facial injuries he suffered in that preseason skirmish with Bobby Portis. Even though things have been going well he reportedly still wants out of Chicago and would fit on several teams. This afternoon, Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Bulls and Pelicans had a deal in place to send Mirotic to New Orleans for a first-round pick and the dead weight of Omer Asik’s salary. However, a few minutes later he reported this:

Not just yet, Niko, not just yet.

— Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2:21 p.m.

The Spurs are not moving Kawhi Leonard

Over the past few weeks reports leaked out that there may be a disconnect between Kawhi Leonard over his injury recovery and rehab this season. Apparently things aren’t that bad, though — Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders is reporting that the Spurs have not been listening to offers for Leonard.

— Tuesday, Jan. 30, 9:44 a.m.

Blake Griffin is a Detroit Piston

In a shocking start to deadline season, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that the Clippers have agreed on a deal to send Blake Griffin to the Detroit Pistons.

The Clippers will also send Willie Reed and Brice Johnson back to Detroit. For more analysis of this deal, check out our NBA Trade Grades.

— Monday, Jan. 29, 7:28 p.m.

Avery Bradley to the Lakers?

Vincent Ellis of the Detroit Free Press is reporting that the Lakers have offered Jordan Clarkson in exchange for Avery Bradley. With Bradley’s contract coming off the books this summer, this would be a way for the Lakers to shed salary in their pursuit of signing two max salary free agents this summer. Clarkson is an average defender at best but he can create his own shot and could bring some offensive juice to the Pistons backcourt.

— Monday, Jan. 29, 2:32 p.m.

It’s over for Joakim Noah and the Knicks

This barely qualifies as a trade deadline story since it’s hard to imagine anyone being interested in trading for him, but the Knicks are reportedly interested in moving Joakim Noah. This news come after a heated confrontation with head coach Jeff Hornacek which explains why Noah has not been with the team the past few games. Noah still has two years left on his mammoth $72 million contract and sounds like he’s not going to accept a buyout. It seems like that mean getting a huge paycheck to stay home.

— Monday, Jan. 29, 2:15 p.m.

Avery Bradley not long for Detroit

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that the Detroit Pistons have made Avery Bradley available in trade talks.

Bradley is an unrestricted free agent and has been underwhelming in several areas for the Pistons. Trading him now makes sure that they get at least some return on their investment in him this season. The emergence of Luke Kennard (and the team’s fading playoff fortunes) probably make this an easier decision for Detroit.

— Monday, Jan. 29, 10:37 a.m.

Kemba Walker to Milwaukee?

Since it was announced that the Hornets were listening to offers for Kemba Walker, several teams have been linked in rumors with the All-Star point guard. Today, the New York Times’ Marc Stein reported that the Milwaukee Bucks were one of the teams that were interested.

Michael Jordan said that the team would need a huge haul to consider trading Walker, something the Bucks probably couldn’t provide. It’s an especially strange move since the Bucks traded for Eric Bledsoe earlier in the season.

— Tuesday, Jan. 23, 4:29 p.m.

George Hill would solve a lot of problems for the Cavaliers

The Cavaliers need some help in the worst way. Their defense is as bad as it’s ever been and things have reportedly gotten ugly in the locker room as well. George Hill could be a huge help, playing both guard spots, defending multiple positions and helping space the floor with his shooting. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that the Cavaliers and Kings have been talking.

— Tuesday, Jan. 23, 4:23 p.m.

The store is open in New York

The Knicks are apparently open for business as the trade deadline approaches. ESPN’s Ian Begley has reported that the Knicks have expressed interest in Kemba Walker and several teams (although not the Hornets) have inquired about Willy Hernangomez, Enes Kanter and Kyle O’Quinn.

— Tuesday, Jan. 23, 10:55 a.m.

DeAndre to the Trail Blazers?

The Los Angeles Clippers looked to be doomed earlier in the season and trade rumors immediately started swirling around DeAndre Jordan. The Clippers have bounced back and look like a fringe playoff team but Jordan could still be one of the biggest names to be involved at the trade deadline. Marc Stein of the New York Times is reporting that the Portland Trail Blazers have reached out to the Clippers about his availability.

The Trail Blazers are invested in big man Jusuf Nurkic, but he has not been a panacea and the chance to flip him and pieces for Jordan would undoubtedly improve their present outlook.

The Cavaliers and Milwaukee Bucks have also reportedly asked about Jordan.

— Monday, Jan. 22, 2:15 p.m.

Rodney Hood is headed out of Salt Lake

With the emergence of Donovan Mitchell, Rodney Hood has becoming increasingly irrelevant for the Utah Jazz. On Sunday, Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune  reported that the Jazz are actively looking for trade partners for Hood.

Next: The 20 best NBA players who could be available at the trade deadline

Kemba Walker is on the block

The Charlotte Hornets have an All-Star point guard and are flush with solid veteran role players. They also have no cap flexibility and one of the worst records in the Eastern Conference. If the Hornets are going to improve their team they may need to consider shaking things up with a Kemba Walker trade. It looks like they’re there, with ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reporting that they’ve let other teams know they’re taking offers.

There are a lot of interesting trade partners out there for the Hornets but it has to be hard to part with a player who has meant so much to the franchise. For his part, Walker said he would be devastated by a trade.

— Saturday, Jan. 20, 12:45 p.m.

Sweet Lou to the Cavaliers?

No one in the NBA has been hotter than Lou Williams over the past few weeks and with the Cavaliers desperately looking for an upgrade, it’s no surprise they’ve reportedly reach out about his availability.

That’s a stiff price to pay for a player who doesn’t solve their problems on defense. But now is the time of the year when every single player will be linked to the Cavs.
