The Heat reacquired Luke Babbitt from the Atlanta Hawks and fans are puzzled.

The Miami Heat are making a push for the playoffs this season, so it’s kinda puzzling why Miami would require Luke Babbitt from the rebuilding Hawks. In exchange they sent Okaro White to Atlanta.

According to Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated, Atlanta sent the forward back to the Heat. I wish I could tell you that there is a lot to get excited about, Heat fans, but sadly, I cannot. If you don’t know who Babbitt is (and you probably don’t), here’s some context for you.

Babbitt was a star at Nevada and was drafted with the No. 16 overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft by the Portland Trail Blazers. Almost immediately, he was sent to the Idaho Stampede (yay, Idaho!) for two years before becoming non-existent with the Blazers.

In 2013, Babbitt went overseas for a season and came back in 2014 to play two seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans. In 2016, he went to the Miami Heat, and now, and then wound up flying low with the Hawks before being dealt.

Ladies and gents, Luke Babbitt.

His greatest achievement in the NBA may be playing for the Heat twice, and this has Miami fans kind of baffled. Take a look at Heat Twitter to see what I mean by that:

No, Torre, it’s not a joke.

But, hey, at least you have Dwyane Wade back! That’s gotta count for something, right. We certainly hope so.

So what are the Heat doing this trade deadline? We have absolutely no clue.  They are, reportedly, in the Tyreke Evans Sweepstakes, so I guess they’re making some room for him. Other than that, their moves have been puzzling, to say the least, and tops among them are bringing Babbitt back.

From where it stands now, Miami is seriously trying to be a middle-of-the-road team in the soft East.
