Jimmy Butler has requested a trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves
It’s happened. It’s gotten to that point. Jimmy Butler has requested a trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves per Shams Charania.
Oh no. It’s happened. The issue has reached Kawhi-Leonard-and-the-Spurs level untenable in Minnesota. Oh man. Oh no. Shams said these words and suddenly souls around Minnesota sublimated and flew into the sky to be with the horrible sky spiders that actually exist up there (which is horrifying).
There’s no good way to frame this for Timberwolves fans, I’m afraid. “At least you still have Wiggins,” doesn’t really do much. “KAT is really good,” doesn’t really add much either because he was really good before Jimmy got there. “We can trust Thibs,” is kind of like trusting a dog to not eat an unattended chicken breast that you’ve laid on the floor next to a bowl of dog food. That analogy doesn’t really work, but neither do Thibs’ schemes any more.
Anyway:
Looking back on the trade that seemed like such a clear victory for Minnesota, it turns out to be one year of Jimmy Butler in exchange for a two-time dunk champion who could score, an old sophomore entering his third season who might actually end up being good in the league, and a second-year European who just happens to be the best player on the Bulls now.

I’d say it’s about 97 percent possible that this was all orchestrated by Jimmy as a way to stick it to Thibs for forcing him to play 48 minutes in various playoff games in the past. Now one of the one-to-three teams is Chicago, and the Bulls are going to get him back for a second rounder and Cameron Payne. I’m willing to put absolutely no money on this.
I guess you could say it was fun while it lasted, but that might be a lie.
