While Harlem Heat never competed as a team in WWE, their legacy in WCW makes them more than qualified for the Hall of Fame.

As WrestleMania weekend approaches, the WWE is continuing to roll out the announcements for its 2019 Hall of Fame class. On Monday, the company revealed that Harlem Heat are the latest names up for induction in an exclusive with USA Today.

Harlem Heat, the tag team of Booker T and Stevie Ray (and real-life brothers), were one of the most dominant in WCW and flourished during the Monday Night Wars era. They were 10-time WCW World Tag Team Champions, the most in the history of the company. While the team never competed together in WWE, their highly-decorated seven-year run WCW warrants their Hall of Fame induction.

But winning gold in WCW isn’t what Ray considers his biggest in-ring accomplishment. In speaking with USA Today, he revealed that their time in GWF, where they got their start, stands out:

"“The best moment was probably back in GWF. That would be being a babyface and bringing joy to people that hadn’t really had heroes to root for, especially African-American heroes in that section of the country — which is smack-dab in the middle of Dallas, Texas — for a long time. I think I got my biggest kick out of that.”"

Booker T has already been inducted into the Hall of Fame as a singles competitor; he will now be the third Superstar with two inductions, joining Ric Flair as well as fellow 2019 inductee Shawn Michaels, who will be going in as part of D-Generation X.

Chyna’s induction into WWE Hall of Fame as part of D-X is a start, but it’s not enough. dark. Next

In addition to D-X, Harlem Heat will be joining Torrie Wilson and the Honky Tonk Man as part of the Hall of Fame class of 2019. More names are expected to be revealed in the weeks leading up to the ceremony. That takes place on April 6th, the day before WrestleMania 35. It will be streamed live on the WWE Network.
