DraftKings PGA: 2019 RBC Heritage
DraftKings PGA: 2019 RBC Heritage
Holy Masters! That was 6 hours of pure magic on Sunday. I had zero Tiger shares in DraftKings and I absolutely loved every second! Hell yes I teared up when Tiger hit the almost hole-in-one at 16. Because that is when it hit me that this is for real. You could see the evolution of Tiger Woods-golfer to Tiger Woods-Final Round Leader.
Yes, Molinari and Koepka folded down the stretch, but that is what made it even more like what I remember of Tiger from my early years – Tiger safely holding the lead and then sticking it to birdie distance any time someone got close. Enough about that amazing Masters though, lets turn our attention to the RBC Heritage.
The Tour moves from Agusta, Georgia to Hilton Head, South Carolina this week. Harbour Town Golf Links is an iconic golf course that has hosted this tournament for 50 years. The par-71 course plays just under 7,100 yards, challenging golfers with tiny greens and loads of water hazards.
If the wind is in full effect this weekend, the course will play even more difficult. As with any Pete Dye designed course, there will be plenty of visually imposing shots this week.
Satoshi Kodaira is the defending champion of the RBC Heritage, shooting a final round 66 and holding off Si Woo Kim in a playoff. Other notable leader-board dwellers were Bryson, List, Billy Ho, Webb, Cantlay, and Poulter. Wes Bryan won in 2017 and Brendan Grace in 2016.
Harbour Town typically favors accuracy over bombers. The greens are very small, so scrambling (ATG and Putting) comes into play. Unless you are hitting every green, then it does not really matter.
If the winds pick up, then you are not going to be hitting every green. That is why I am favoring ATG and Putting much more than a typical week. Greens and fairways Bermudagrass, which is typically more difficult for those not used to the surface.

DraftKings PGA: 2019 RBC Heritage – Picks
$10,000 Matt Kuchar
I have been fading Kuchar in DK most of this year and it has been biting me in the ass. I cannot fathom fading him this week. Kuchar has already won this event before and it appears that this course was taylored for his style of game.
He is 2nd in my model behind Jim Furyk. Kuch ranks top 10 in SG Harbour town, SG Pete Dye, SG Approach, SG Opp Gained, and SG Bermuda Putting.
$9,200 Tommy Fleetwood
Fleetwood is in solid form, he just seems to have a below average round each tournament. Even with that, he has yet to miss a cut this season.
Fleetwood has never played the course, but he sets up well in my model. He is a good ball-striker, is solid around the greens (14th in the field), ranks 3rd in SG putting on Bermuda, and is top 10 in DK scoring. If the weather gets out of hand, I trust Tommy.
$8,400 Sungjae Im
Sungjae Im is a legend in the DFS community. The rookie seems to show up every week and competes his ass off with superb ball striking. Im has made 13/18 cuts in his rookie season on the PGA Tour and has an impressive 9 top-20 finishes. Over his last 5 outings, Im has a T3 (API), MC (The Players), T4 (Valspar), T7 (Puntacana) and T20 (Valero).
Im ranks 14th in my model, ranking in the top-10 in Approach, Bermuda putting, and DK scoring. I think his shot making ability sets up extremely well at a shorter course like Harbour Town.
DraftKings PGA: 2019 RBC Heritage – Values
$8,100 Ryan Moore
The statistical form for Ryan Moore has been popping. He is striking the ball well (4th and 7th in approach over last 12 and 36 rounds) and ranks 2nd in DK scoring over his last 12 rounds.
Moore finished 16th at the RBC heritage in 2018, the only time he has played this event in the past 5 years. Moore sat out Masters week, so he is likely ready to get back on the course after a 3rd place finish at the Valero Texas Open.
$7,300 Matt Wallace
Wallace is not on many casual DFS golfers radar, but the 29 year old Englishman should be. In his first season competing on the PGA Tour, Wallace is 6/7 in made cuts with his first missed cut coming at The Masters. I see a bounce back week for Wallace at a course that should suit his style of play better than that of Augusta.
Wallace ranks 21st in my model, with steady performance across the board. His most impressive stat is ranking 13th against the field in SG Approach.
$6,900 Kevin Na
Na is severely underpriced this week in DraftKings. I hope that he is overlooked, but I doubt that will happen. Na has solid course history with a T4 in 2016, T39 in 2017 and a missed cut last year. Na is coming off of a T46 at The Masters, a course that does not play to his skillset.
Na is a wizard around the greens and on the putting surface, ranking in the top 15 in this field in both categories. The rest of his game is solid, not spectacular. I have a rule to play Kevin Na any time his price tag is perplexingly low.
