This broadcaster has the absolute worst take on the Astros cheating scandal (Video)

ESPN’s Matt Vasgersian shared the worst take on the Astros cheating scandal yet.

Some might debate the severity of the punishment (or lack thereof) given to the Houston Astros for their signal-stealing cheating scandal. Others might debate the morality of targeting Houston batters at the plate.

What isn’t debatable is that the Astros cheated.

Unless you’re ESPN broadcaster Matt Vasgersian, who dropped the most clueless take on the scandal so far.

“We’re never going to know what really happened,” Vasgersian said while calling the Dodgers-Astros game from Los Angeles on Sunday night.

There’s a giant problem with that assessment: We do know what happened. It’s not open to interpretation. It’s not in question.

Not only do we know Houston cheated, we know exactly how they did it. That’s because MLB offered immunity to players involved in the scandal in exchange for coming clean.

The only thing we don’t know for certain is what other kinds of cheating may have been going on.

Needless to say, Dodger fans watching the game didn’t take Vasgersian’s comments lying down. The response on Twitter was fierce.

Arguably the best response came from Alanna Rizzo, the Dodger’s LA Sports Net reporter.

“MUTE,” she tweeted.

After a controversial series in Houston earlier this summer, the Dodgers were looking forward to welcoming the Astros to Los Angeles. The fans in the city went out of their way to express their anger over the scandal which denied the Dodgers a World Series title, from painting a mural of Joe Kelly’s pout face to greeting the team bus with trash cans.

Houston got the last laugh on Saturday night with a 7-5 win. The Dodgers came back to beat Houston 8-1 on Sunday night, closing the season series with a 3-1 advantage. It won’t right the Astros’ wrongs, but it’ll at least make sitting through bad takes like Vasgersian’s a little easier.
