Dodgers pitcher Joe Kelly went to visit his pouting mural in Los Angeles while wearing a Kobe Bryant jersey.

Three things can instantly endear you to Los Angeles sports fans these days. The first is being Vin Scully. The second is dunking on the Houston Astros. The third is honoring Kobe Bryant.

Joe Kelly hit two of the three on Thursday when he visited a mural painted in his honor after he mocked the Houston Astros with a pout face and became a cult hero.

He was wearing a Kobe Bryant Lakers jersey when he did so.

Joe Kelly continues to build his cult hero status for the Dodgers.

The mural popped up this week on an outer wall of Floyd’s 99 Barbershop near Dodger Stadium thanks to Jonas Never.

Never posted the photos of Kelly’s trip to see the mural for himself. The Dodgers‘ pitcher, who was signed in 2018, was decked out in a Kobe jersey and even recreated the pout.

If you missed one of the great moments in the MLB this year, Kelly sparked a bench-clearing brawl back in August when he let the Astros know just how much he despised their cheating in the 2017 World Series.

Kelly wasn’t even on the Dodger’s team wronged by Houston’s trash-can banging scheme, but he did play for the Red Sox who were bounced by the Astros in the ALDS.

He threw at Alex Bregman and Carlos Correa when he got the chance in the sixth inning. Once the inning was over, he jawed with Correa on his way off the field, flashing the iconic pout face in his direction. Chaos ensued.

It was a moment that ingratiated Dodgers fans to Kelly. It pleased plenty of other baseball fans as well. It didn’t please MLB officials though. Kelly was suspended for five games, a suspension he is still serving as the Dodgers and Astros prepare to face off again. The punishment has been delayed because Kelly has been on the injured list since Aug. 10 because of shoulder inflammation.

Kelly will begin serving his suspension on Thursday night, which will force him to miss the Astros series beginning on Sunday.
