Cowboys tight end Blake Jarwin goes down with non-contact injury
Blake Jarwin fell to the field grabbing his leg Sunday night.
The Dallas Cowboys took a lead into halftime Sunday night against the Los Angeles Rams. That is the good news.
The bad news comes in the form of injuries on both sides of the ball. Offensive tackle Cam Erving left with a leg injury and linebacker Leighton Vander Esch injured his collarbone. Tight end Blake Jarwin can be added to the list after he went down with a leg injury.
Hoping for the best with Blake Jarwin
Jarwin’s injury was scary because there was no contact made between him and a Rams defender. The tight end was running a route when he cut and immediately went down grabbing the back of his leg.
This immediately brings up fears of a serious knee injury. The official ruling named him questionable to return. Jarwin playing in the second half obviously erases any fears of a serious injury. However, him not playing is a troubling sign.
Injuries were an unfortunate expectation given the lack of a normal offseason or preseason. A non-contact one like Jarwin’s is a major concern as wide receivers and tight ends begin going full speed during games.
Jarwin is the number one tight end on the depth chart with Jason Witten gone and had one reception for 12 yards before leaving the game early. A serious injury would change Dallas’ plans on offense moving forward beyond just Sunday’s game.
Injuries in the first half of Week 1 were not what the Cowboys had in mind. Now the team will have to make the proper adjustments to focus on still winning this game on the road.
