AJ Brown is a DK Metcalf stan and we’re here for it
Although no longer teammates, AJ Brown is hyped to see DK Metcalf shine against the Philadelphia Eagles.
It’s no secret that DK Metcalf is slowly emerging into the next great NFL wide receiver. Well before his Monday night madness against the Eagles, it was clear he was the breakout star of 2020.
Then Monday came to solidify his status as the new No.1 target for the Seattle Seahawks.
Entering the closing minutes of the fourth quarter, Metcalf has already done his part to put fireworks to the Russell Wilson-led offense. With 10 catches for a career-high 177 yards, plus two 30-plus yard gains, his vertical presence has been the x-factor in a very sluggish game from the offense.
There’s plenty of fans of No.14, but there’s a clear No.1 stan in his fan club. Look no further than Titans receiver AJ Brown, who took to Twitter to send praise to his former Ole Miss teammate.
Ole Miss built a brotherhood that still remains in the NFL
Brown and Metcalf saw their success star down in Oxford, Miss. as members of the Rebels. Metcalf finished his time at Ole Miss with 67 catches for 1228 yards and t14 touchdowns. Brown became a household name after a stellar final season, finishing his college career with 189 catches for 2984 yards and 19 scores.
So far, life in the NFL has been kind to both second-round steals from the 2019 NFL Draft.
Brown is the do-it-all weapon in the Music City for Ryan Tannehill’s offense. One season after leading all rookies with 1,081 yards and eight touchdowns, he’s matched that scoring rate through 11 games. Meanwhile, Metcalf has been a key vertical threat for Wilson’s cannon of an arm, hauling in eight passes for more than 30 yards on the season.
While they might not be teammates, they still have respect for each other. At this point, so should every NFL defensive back trying to cover Metcalf in single-man coverage.
