The way the Kansas City Chiefs are built, they could play average football and still make it Tampa Bay.

Ask anyone who the best team in the NFL is and they’ll likely say the Kansas City Chiefs. Anyone who says otherwise is doing so for attention.

One week has kept Andy Reid’s club from remaining undefeated in 2020. Outside of a few missed throws from Patrick Mahomes, the offense has been flawless. And while the defense might allow some points, they still are a top-five team in causing turnovers.

Far and away the Chiefs are not just the best team in the AFC, but likely the NFL. Why? They’re a relatively complete team with a historic offense and legendary quarterback.

For those reasons, one could argue even with an average game, Kansas City is destined to represent the conference in Super Bowl LV.

On the latest episode of FanSided’s Stacking The Box podcast, Nick Wright of FOX Sports 1 gave his thoughts on the Chiefs and their road back to the Super Bowl.

“I think in the AFC, if the Chiefs play a B-minus game, nobody is beating them,” Wright said. “Now in the Super Bowl, if they get there, I think that the Saints and the Rams could present real problems because of their defenses.”

Is there a team that comes close to matching the Chiefs on a bad day?

Kansas City’s offense is coming off their worst performance of the season against Miami. Mahomes threw three interceptions while also taking a comical 30-yard sack in the first quarter.

However, even when Miami led, did it feel like Kansas City was in any place to lose? Not in the slightest.

When looking at the AFC, plenty of teams could contend for the AFC Championship. Some believe there’s about three of four teams that could dethrone Kansas City on their way to consecutive titles.

Therein lies the problem since there isn’t a true front-runner to question the Chiefs’ top tier status.

Kansas City could be in line for a preview of their Super Bowl matchup Sunday against the New Orleans Saints. Despite losing to the struggling Eagles, the defense still is a top-three unit in 2020 while a healthy Drew Brees likely claims a victory.

Mahomes’ arsenal isn’t just loaded, it’s also diverse with different skillsets to be successful. At this point, it’s about playing the right matchup against the opponent to move on week by week.

The AFC has many who are jacks of all trades, but they’re masters of none. Instead, the race down to Tampa Bay might be over before it begins with Kansas City already on the final turn.
