It’s an AFC East showdown with playoff implications now on the line.

Let’s give credit to the Miami Dolphins. Entering the 2020 season, Brian Flores and most of the media believed the franchise was still a year away from contending for the postseason.

Instead, now they’re right in the mix of a playoff hunt and will finish .500 or better for the first time since 2016. As the AFC playoff picture comes to a close, the Dolphins remain the No.7 seed entering Week 15.

All that could changed against Cam Newton and the New England Patriots on Sunday afternoon.

The development of Tua Tagovailoa has been growing each week. Thee’s very little asked of the former No.5 selection, but last Sunday showed the potential Tagovailoa has to the franchise. In a thrilling loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, the Alabama product threw for a career-high 316 yards and two scores.

Meanwhile, the defense continued to show why they should be feared with four takeaways against Patrick Mahomes.

What can one make of the Patriots? Injuries, opt outs and the loss of Tom Brady will sting a club that ran the AFC for nearly two decades. However, mixed play from Cam Newton and the offense is why the Patriots will likely be watching the playoffs from their couches in January.

One week, Newton looks to be the answer, watching his club hang 45 points on the Los Angeles Chargers. The next, a pick-six and mediocre passing has the Los Angeles Rams looking to be Super Bowl bound.

With a loss Sunday, the Patriots would be mathematically eliminated from the AFC playoff chase. A win for the Dolphins now gives them a half game lead over the Ravens, who likely will grab the victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
