Aaron Donald’s status on the injury report is not ideal for Rams

Aaron Donald’s status for the Packers game is still up in the air.

The Los Angeles Rams upsetting Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks thanks to Jared Goff playing with a broken thumb on his throwing hand put Sean McVay’s team on cloud nine, but they came crashing down back to earth after hearing that superstar defensive tackle Aaron Donald had suffered a rib injury. Knowing that they might not stand a chance against the Green Bay Packers without him, the latest injury report confirms everything the Rams didn’t wan to hear.

Per the Rams practice report, Donald and quarterback John Wolford, who left the Seahawks loss after suffering a neck injury, did not practice today, meaning both are in danger of missing the Packers game.

The Rams defensive line could get overwhelmed without Aaron Donald

Donald will, in all likelihood, compete with Pittsburgh Steelers pass rusher T.J. Watt for the Defensive Player of the Year Award. Winning it would give Donald his third award in the last four years. With 13.5 sacks as a defensive tackle, numbers that help Brandon Staley and the Rams top the league in several important categories, he certainly has a strong case for the award.

The Rams have plenty of depth on the line, as Morgan Fox and Sebastian Joseph-Day could easily start on other teams if they weren’t blocked by No. 99, but the lack of a superstar quotient in a Donald-less Rams front seven could be a killer against a Packers team that will happily take a win by running Aaron Jones 25 times in the frigid Wisconsin winter.

Donald is many things, but no one who values their own physical health would dare call him soft. If there is even a microscopic chance that he will play in one of the biggest games in his career, he will look to get out on the field and terrorize the Packers.
