Sean McVay did not have an update about the status of Aaron Donald moving forward.

Aaron Donald is one of the best players in the NFL and a key reason why the Los Angeles Rams are in the postseason.

Donald sacked Russell Wilson twice Saturday and could have had more if not for an injury suffered in the third quarter. Donald tackled Wilson, who then appeared to roll over on the defender’s ribs. The All-Pro defensive tackle didn’t return to the game and Sean McVay did not provide a clear update following his team’s win.

Donald’s status remains questionable

Donald was at least seen back on the sidelines during the second half. However, his initial reaction to the injury was alarming and fans will be hoping for the best as the Rams remain alive after the upset in Seattle.

Donald had another elite season in 2020, playing in all 16 games and recording 13.5 sacks. That made him a first-team All-Pro for the sixth time and got him into his seventh straight Pro Bowl.

The entire Rams defense stepped up Saturday to make Russell Wilson look awful. They sacked him a total of five times, counting Donald’s two, and Darious Williams took an interception to the house in the second quarter.

But there is no doubt the overall effectiveness of the unit would be hurt without Donald up front taking up so much attention from the offensive line. He has never missed significant time in his career and this would be a brutal time for him to start.

McVay and the rest of us will have to wait to learn more about the injury. Having him back on the field makes his team a contender no matter who lines up under center for the Rams next week.
