Deshaun Watson should request a trade to these 5 teams
3. New York Jets
The Jets may or may not be Watson’s top preferred trade destination, or a preferred destination at all, with conflicting reports out there. But he reportedly wanted the Texans to interview Robert Saleh for their head coaching job, which they did not even try to do before he became the Jets’ new head coach.
The Jets have accumulated extra draft picks, and they have the third-most cap space in the league right now ($63.475 million). So they are equipped to be aggressive this offseason, with a lot of holes to fill and a lot of options to fill them. The future of quarterback Sam Darnold is a question, and the Jets could answer it before they consider taking a quarterback with the second overall pick in April.
Watson should see what the Jets have–a head coach he recommended the Texans talk to and plenty of assets to help build a roster around him even after what they’d give up to get him–and see an appealing destination. An all-in move for Watson would set the Jets on the right course at a position they’ve always missed on–the most important position in sports.
