Chelsea agrees to terms with Jules Kounde ahead of potential Sevilla transfer
With Chelsea yet to make a big splash in the summer transfer window, that could change by landing Jules Kounde from Sevilla.
Chelsea fans have been waiting patiently to see if the team will make any big moves before the summer transfer window comes and goes. Well, it looks like some defensive help could be on the way in Jules Kounde.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea opened up talks with La Liga side Sevilla this week for the 22-year-old center back. The Frenchman has received plenty of interest from other clubs, but he’s keen on a potential move to the Premier League. Per Romano, Kounde and Chelsea have also already agreed to personal terms.
Jules Kounde could be on his way to Chelsea and the Premier League
Kounde is a rising star in European soccer and he’d be quite the addition for the Blues. With Thiago Silva climbing in age, Kounde could be the long-term replacement for him in the middle of the defense. With that said, Sevilla and Chelsea still need to agree on the transfer fee here before Kounde makes his move to London.
Chelsea supporters would sure love to see this happen, as they’re surely tired of Manchester United receiving so much attention of late. First, United brought in Jadon Sancho. Then on Monday, Romano broke the news that Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane will also be heading to Old Trafford.
While the majority of the focus for Chelsea has been on trying to get Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, you can’t forget about the other areas of need as well. Kounde could prove to be a brilliant signing down the road if things go through. It’s now on the front office to put an offer in place that Sevilla will have no choice but to accept.
