Cincinnati Bengals rookie kicker Evan McPherson filed for a trademark prior to winning the AFC Championship.
After over 30 years without a playoff win, the Cincinnati Bengals are now just one victory away from winning the franchise’s first Super Bowl. For the Bengals, they managed to pick up huge wins against the top-seeded Tennessee Titans in the Divisional Round and the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game on field goals by rookie kicker Evan McPherson.
Prior to the team clinching a spot in Super Bowl LVI, McPherson filed for the trademark “Money Mac,” per Darren Rovell of The Action Network.
Bengals: Evan McPherson filed awesome trademark following playoff heroics
Talk about an epic nickname, which is now trademarked by the Bengals rookie.
McPherson holds the distinction of being the only kicker selected in the 2021 NFL Draft. The Bengals drafted the former Florida Gators kicker in the fifth round, after he made 51-of-60 field goal attempts in his three years with the program.
In the regular season, McPherson held the distinction of not missing a single field goal on the road, which is impressive as a rookie. He successfully made 28-of-33 field goal attempts in 17 games. But once, the playoffs began, McPherson was locked in.
In all three of Cincinnati’s playoff games, McPherson made all 12 of his field goals. Two of those were game-winners. He secured Cincinnati’s 19-16 win with a 52-yard field goal after Ryan Tannehill threw an interception late in the fourth quarter. McPherson then nailed the 31-yard attempt in overtime after Patrick Mahomes threw an interception to safety Vonn Bell.
McPherson has been “money” throughout the playoffs, but he can further solidify it by helping the Bengals win their first Lombardi Trophy in franchise history.
