Cincinnati Bengals kicker Evan McPherson became a Queen City legend after his game-winner, but his quote prior to the kick might be even better.

Joe Burrow might be The Geauxt, but his Cincinnati Bengals teammate Evan McPherson had the epic quote.

McPherson drained a 52-yard field goal as time expired to sink the top-seeded Tennessee Titans in Nashville, 19-16. Burrow might be dripping with confidence ever since his magical senior season at LSU, but what McPherson supposedly told him right before the kick is the stuff of legend. Burrow said McPherson told him, “looks like we’re going to the AFC Championship Game.”

This might be the greatest postseason quote since Jalen Ramsey said, “we’re going to the Super Bowl and we’re going to win that b*tch” as a proud member of the 2017 Jacksonville Jaguars.

It may not be as over-the-top as what Ramsey told all of Duval County four postseasons ago, but that does not change the fact this was an incredibly ballsy quote. Making 52-yard field goals is always challenging. To do it on the road with a chance to make franchise history as a rookie over the No. 1 seed in the AFC is stranger than fiction. This is not your Bengals team from yesterday.

This is the third trip to the AFC Championship Game in franchise history for the Bengals. The last time times they made it this far, they went on to win the AFC and face the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, Ken Anderson and later Boomer Esiason were no match for Joe Montana running the West Coast offense for a former Bengals assistant coach named Bill Walsh.

The last time the Bengals got this far, Ickey Woods was shuffling all over the end zone in 1988.
