Rickie Fowler major championship record: Has he ever won the US Open?
Rickie Fowler is one of the most popular golfers in the world, but what is his major championship record? Has he ever won and what are his best finishes?
One thing that has never changed with Rickie Fowler is that he’s been one of the most beloved golfers on the planet by fans. However, whether it’s been at the US Open or any other major championship, he has actually been absent a bit in recent years as he’s gone through swing changes trying to improve his game that left him in the proverbial wilderness.
He’s out of that wilderness now. Golf fans have seen it throughout the 2023 season on the PGA Tour but they got an even better look at that to start the 2023 US Open at Los Angeles Country Club.
Fowler jumped out to early contention and then began to somewhat separate themselves with four straight birdies as he made the turn from the back nine into the front nine after starting Thursday’s first round on the 10th hole.
With Fowler sitting in the lead and out in front of the field, though, has fans asking, simply, if Rickie Fowler has ever won a major and what his US Open finishes have looked like. So let’s take a look at what he’s done in major championships in his career.
Has Rickie Fowler ever won a major championship? Best finishes in majors
No, Rickie Fowler has not won a major in his golf career. He has five PGA Tour victories and two additional victories on the European/DP World Tour, it just hasn’t happened for him at a major in his career.
Having said that, Fowler has experienced some close calls in his career. In fact, Rickie Fowler has finished inside the Top 3 at least once in all three major championships. He was outright second at The Masters in 2018, losing by one stroke to Patrick Reed. His best year was in 2014 as he finished in the Top 5 of all three majors, including his best PGA Championship finish (T3) at Valhalla, best Open Championship finish (T2) at Royal Liverpool, and best US Open finish (T2) at Pinehurst.
All told, Fowler has eight Top 5 finishes in major championships with an additional three Top 10 finishes.

While his best finish was in the 2014 US Open at Pinehurst, it wasn’t particularly close. Fowler tied with Erik Compton for second at -1 for the tournament but they both were eight strokes behind the winner, Martin Kaymer, who boat-raced the field and finished at -9. That was also the case in 2017, his second-best finish, at Erin Hills as he was still six strokes back of the winner, Brooks Koepka.
