It’s been a busy couple days for the San Antonio Spurs. In addition to placing Aron Baynes on the trade block, the team has scheduled a work out with free agent forward Michael Beasley.

Beasley isn’t the only free agent the San Antonio Spurs have their eyes on though as they recently inquired about Gustavo Ayon. Only problem? Ayon was expected to play in China this season, though had yet to officially sign a contract.
Given that, the San Antonio Spurs knew they had to strike while the iron was hot and according to RealGM have officially presented Gustavo Ayon with a contract offer.
While details of the offer have yet to be released, the San Antonio Spurs do have their full mid-level exception available. Given that, it’s completely possible they could attempt to sign not only Ayon but also Michael Beasley if they so desired.
At this point, it seems to be a matter of playing in the NBA or not for Ayon. He isn’t going to have a big role with the Spurs, though would fit the team well. Meanwhile, in China he’d likely not only play more minutes but would also make more money.
