Cincinnati Bengals’ Robert Geathers with the pinball INT (GIF)

Veteran defensive end Robert Geathers of the Cincinnati Bengals was in a place 270-pound linemen usually don’t find themselves—downfield in pass coverage—but it worked out for him as he was in the right place at the right time for his third career interception.
The Bengals are all over the Tennessee Titans and this play didn’t help. Quarterback Jake Locker threw a fastball down the left side intended for tight end Delanie Walker. The ball ricocheted off Walker and Cincinnati strong safety George Iloka and bounced right into the waiting arms of Geathers:

He didn’t run far, though. Apparently at age 31, he doesn’t have the blinding speed he had as a rookie in 2004 when he returned an interception 36 yards for a touchdown against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Geathers also had a pick in 2007, returning one 30 yards against the Baltimore Ravens, and he had his second career touchdown in 2009 when he scooped up a fumble and rumbled 75 yards against the Cleveland Browns.
Geathers is in his 11th season with the Bengals, who chose him in the fourth round out of Georgia in the 2004 NFL Draft. A former starter who is now part of Cincinnati’s defensive line rotation, Geathers has 33 career sacks.
