Jose Altuve not in Astros line up today
Jose Altuve has had a phenomenal season any way you slice it. The all star second baseman leads major league baseball with 223 hits and a .340 batting average. The latter leads Victor Martinez’s total by 3 points.

So what does this mean? We officially have a batting crown race. And it will be decided on the season’s final day. With just one game separating the first place Tigers from the Kansas City Royals, all indications thus far are that Martinez will be in Detroit’s line up today for their game against Minnesota. With a potentially inactive Altuve, he will most likely need a 4 hit performance today to make up the distance.
Martinez himself is in the midst of a race for the American League Central division, and the American League MVP award. A batting title would add more fire to his case to take home the hardware. With both pennant and individual award races to be concluded, today looks like it could be an exciting day for the sport.
