Justin Forsett continues to impress as Baltimore Ravens roll on
By Cory Buck
The Baltimore Ravens running back situation became a wide-open affair after the Ray Rice fiasco. Many wrote off the Ravens leading up to this season, thanks to that distraction, but the team has played solid football en route to a 3-1 start to the 2014 NFL season. Much of that can be attributed to running back Justin Forsett, who has been by far the team’s best running back to date. As his body of work grows, Ravens coaches and teammates alike are starting to take notice.

“He’s making yards after the hit on his own. That’s kind of how you measure a back,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said per ESPN.com. “I remember reading Woody Hayes’ book when I was a kid, and he called it ‘a string of pearls.’ How many tacklers can you leave in your wake? That kind of is a measurement of a great back. And Justin is playing that way.”
Quarterback Joe Flacco praised Forsett for his touchdown run in the team’s Week 4 victory as well.
“To get the ball into the end zone from the 10-yard line, and not have to go in there and pound it one, two, three times, that’s huge for us; that’s huge for down the road in the game. He’s been able to do that all year so far.”
For now it appears that Forsett will handle the starter’s share of carries in the Ravens backfield. If he can keep up the good work, that may be the case for the rest of the season.
