Here are my top five teams of the month:
Sep 20, 2014; Tuscaloosa, AL, USA; Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Blake Sims (6) calls a play before the first offensive play from scrimmage in the first quarter of their game against the Florida Gators at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Alabama won 42-21. Mandatory Credit: Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports
1. Oregon: They win the top slot for September because they did have the most impressive win of anyone when they beat a good Michigan State team at home. The Arizona upset will definitely be the talk of October though!
2. Auburn: Their win in Manhattan may have been sort of a gift, but a win is a win. And that is a tough place to win, which puts Auburn comfortably in second.
3. Florida State: The Seminoles have not looked impressive yet. They are being held to a higher standard, but that is what happens when you are the defending National Champions!
4. Alabama: Their signature win was a domination of a questionable Florida team, but what we have seen from the Tide, especially in the last two weeks, it the emergence of Blake Sims. He is comfortable in the offense, and has arguably the best receiver in college to throw to in Amari Cooper. If you were to say that Alabama is the best team, I couldn’t argue with you.
5. Oklahoma: The defense looks better than it has in a decade. The run game is not a question mark anymore, it is a strength. The only real question that the Sooners have is depth at wide receiver.
Here are the bottom five, because bad teams need love too!
124. Kent State: They have been outscored 111-13 in the last two games.
125. Miami(OH): Lost to 1-AA Eastern Kentucky
126. Army: Lost to Yale. Yale!
127. Troy: Have been pummeled by everyone, and lost to 1-AA Abilene Christian. Who was Division II just two years ago.
128. SMU: They have scored just six points on the year. Enough said.
Stay tuned for the odds and predictions for an action-packed Saturday!
