Watch American Pharoah win 2015 Kentucky Derby (Video)
American Pharoah won the 141st Kentucky Derby over Finishing Line and Dortmund and you can watch the entire race here.
The most exciting two minutes in sports was back with the 141st Kentucky Derby featuring two potential historic horses in the 19-horse field with American Pharoah and Dortmund the betting favorites to capture the Run for the Roses at Churchill Downs.
American Pharoah was a 5/2 opening favorite to win the first leg of the Triple Crown with the final odds settling at 3/1 with Dortmund coming in a close second with 4/1 odds. Both horses are trained by Hall of Famer Bob Baffert who was in search of his fourth Kentucky Derby win and the first since War Emblem won in 2002.
Victor Espinoza rode War Emblem in that race and he was the jockey for California Chrome when he won the Derby last year and he rode American Pharoah today as he was in search of his third Derby win. Dortmund was 6-0 entering the Derby and won the Santa Anita Derby. Two of the last three Derby winners also won the Santa Anita Derby, including last year’s winner, California Chrome.
But that wasn’t the case this year as American Pharoah won the 141st Kentucky Derby with Finishing Line and Dortmund coming in second and third place, respectively. Baffert wins his first Derby since War Emblem in 2002 and the Hall of Fame trainer gets his fourth win at Churchill Downs.
