Who won the Belmont Stakes in 2023? We’ve got complete results, the final finishing order and more from the final Triple Crown race.

All eyes in the horse racing world were on New York as the 155th running of the Belmont Stakes commenced.

And who came away with the victory? It was Archangelo!

Jena Antonucci is now the first-ever female trainer to win the Belmont Stakes or any Triple Crown race. It’s been a long time coming, but that glass ceiling has finally been broken.

Javier Castellano, the Venezuelan jockey, added the Belmont Stakes win to his 2023 Kentucky Derby victory atop Mage. It’s been an incredible year for him.

Archangelo clearly wasn’t the favorite, with odds opening on Friday at 8-1. That didn’t matter in the end. It’s not about what people expect of the horse, it’s what they do. And Archangelo was up for the challenge.

National Treasure lead for most of the race but Archangelo surged forward in the final stretch to win. Forte, the odds-on favorite, was nowhere to be found early but broke late and tried to make it interesting. However, it wasn’t close in the end. Archangelo won comfortably.

There may not have been a Triple Crown winner, but it was still a historic day in New York.
