Belmont Stakes 2015: Betting odds for every horse
By Jack Crosby
With the post positions now set, here is a look at the opening betting odds for the 2015 Belmont Stakes
Can American Pharoah make sports history and capture the Triple Crown? We don’t know the answer to that yet, but we will no in a few days on Saturday when we get the running of the Belmont Stakes, the last leg in the Triple Crown pursuit.
This horse, jockeyed by Victor Espinoza and trained by Bob Baffert, ran into our hearts with his win in the Kentucky Derby, then he solidified his status as a legitimate Triple Crown contender with a very convincing win on a muddy Preakness track almost three weeks ago. Now, though, the stage is set for some history to possibly happen with one of the more special horses that we have seen in quite some time.
On Wednesday afternoon the post positions were released, and well, let’s just say that American Pharoah got some help in the Triple Crown chase, drawing the No. 5 slot. It sure beats starting from the rail like he did at the Preakness, that’s for sure.
With the post positions being out now, of course, the opening betting odds have been released for the field and you can view them below.
3-5 for Pharoah is nothing close to a shock here, as when you take a look at the rest of the field, there’s a very good chance that the ultimate feat will be pulled off before our very eyes on Saturday.
But as we have seen at the Belmont may times before, this is one of the more unpredictable tracks in the world, and it has crushed more than its fair share of Triple Crown dreamers. So, a bet on any of the other horses might not be the worst decision that you’ve ever made.
