College Football Week 1 results against the spread.

At first glance, I think I had a pretty rough week. there is still plenty of time to make it up, but I really hate starting the college football season in a hole.

The winners against the spread will be in bold. Here are the college football results for week 1:

Hawaii vs. California: MISS! That stupid half bit me. That wouldn’t be the only time this week…

Charlotte at Louisville(-39.5): MISS! Who knew Charlotte was so bad? I should have…..

Tulane at Wake Forest(-16.5): MISS! Great start there Mike. In fact, there weren’t even 17 total points scored in this game.

Indiana(-9.5) at Florida International: HIT! Finally on the board! Devine Redding is going to be a whole lot of fun to watch this year. Unless you are on the defense facing him, of course.

Appalachian State at Tennessee(-20.5): MISS! I knew better. Tennessee didn’t choke in the fourth like they did most of last year, but they didn’t look very good either.

South Carolina at Vanderbilt(-3.5): HIT! I should have put more points on this one.

Rice at Western Kentucky(-16.5): MISS! Okay, smart guys. Let’s see you put up 46 on Bama!

Oregon State at Minnesota(-12.5): MISS! Okay, so this was a game the Gophers should have covered. They would have had they not lost 1/3 of their defense to stupid targeting penalties. They need to play smarter to have any chance this year.

Ball State at Georgia State(-3.5): MISS! The Ball State-Indiana game may stay close.

Army at Temple(-16.5): MISS! Temple had their one good year. Now back to obscurity with you….

Colorado State vs. Colorado(-8.5): MISS! Wow, this was ugly. Colorado could wreak some havoc in the Pac 12 this year.

Kansas State at Stanford(-14.5): HIT! This game was never in question even though The Cardinal didn’t cover.

Toledo at Arkansas State(-3.5): HIT! I should have put more on this game, but you would think that with two QB transfers from major programs that the Red Wolves would have put up more of a fight.

Georgia Tech(-3.5) vs. Boston College: MISS! Another half that goes the wrong way, in a week where I needed a break.

Oklahoma(-11.5) at Houston: HIT! I expected this game to be a fight. I was just hoping we would show up. The defense did a decent job on Ward, and who can cover those monsters Houston has a WR? No, the difference in this game was Houston’s defense, and Oklahoma’s stupid coaching decision to attempt a 55 yard field goal….

Bowling Green at Ohio State(-28.5): MISS! This was going according to plan for the first 20 minutes. Then the cat (Buckeyes) quit playing with the mouse (Bowling Green) and just devoured it.

Hawaii at Michigan(-40.5): MISS! The jet-lagged Warriors got absolutely destroyed in this one.

Boise State(-19.5) at Louisiana-Lafayette: HIT! Boise will be ranked again before too long…unless they slip up this week.

South Alabama at Mississippi State(-28.5): MISS! There is always at least one game where I smack my forehead and say I should have known better. Well, this is the one for this week. I knew better.

Missouri at West Virginia(-10.5): HIT! Missouri’s D looked pretty good. Their offense was better with Drew Lock, but if they cant run the ball, they are in serious trouble.

Rutgers at Washington(-26.5): HIT! Two in a row is quite an achievement this week…..

UCLA at Texas A&M(-2.5): HIT! This was one of the better games of the weekend. Trevor Knight actually looked like a respectable quarterback. Another OU transfer, Keith Ford, also looked good.

LSU(-10.5) vs. Wisconsin: MISS! This game did get ugly, but not in the way I thought. Here’s one thing I don’t understand: How come Les Miles and LSU can’t get a decent QB on the Bayou? And this just adds insult to the loss…one of the worst cheap shots we will see this year (I hope).

Kent State at Penn State(-21.5): MISS! It doesn’t matter how good of a RB you have, if your passing attack isn’t a threat, you are in big trouble. Penn State did try to cover for me though. I appreciate the effort.

Miami(OH) at Iowa(-27.5): MISS! Another Big Ten (14) team fell short in the covering department. This game was never in question. Iowa just let off the gas.

Texas State at Ohio(-20.5): HIT! This is a big win for Texas State. There really is no reason that this team can’t become significant on the college landscape, conference be damned. Football is huge in Texas. This is a win that can help put them on the map.

Louisiana Tech at Arkansas(-24.5): MISS! I thought too much of Arkansas. Most of the SEC looked bad. The few that looked good looked really good though.

Georgia(-2.5) vs. North Carolina: HIT! It surprised me that Georgia was favored in the first place. UNC is going to be a solid team, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Georgia wins the SEC East given the way Tennessee looked.

SMU(-9.5) at North Texas: HIT! SMU claims supremacy of the Dallas Metroplex, at least for a couple of weeks.

San Jose State at Tulsa(-4.5): HIT! I told you Tulsa’s offense was good. I didn’t realize that their defense would be as well.

Southern Mississippi at Kentucky(-6.5): MISS! Yeah, about Kentucky taking the next step…..my bad.

Massachusetts at Florida(-36.5): MISS! Another uninspiring performance by a SEC contender.

USC vs. Alabama(-11.5): MISS! Alabama looked like the number one team here. This was brutal.

Fresno State at Nebraska(-28.5): HIT! Nebraska kicked it into gear in the second half. I’m glad they did.

New Mexico State at UTEP(-9.5): HIT! It looks like another long season for the Aggies.

Clemson(-7.5) at Auburn: MISS! Auburn’s defense was better than I gave them credit for. Are they going to play four quarterbacks all year? It was like watching a roulette wheel under center for Auburn.

BYU(-1.5) at Arizona: MISS! I can’t worry too much about missing this. This was the toss up of the week, really. It was a great game though!

Northern Illinois(-9.5) at Wyoming: MISS! Craig Bohl has some good things going on in Laramie. It will be interesting to see what happens against his former team this week.

Notre Dame(-3.5) at Texas: HIT! This may have been the best game of an exciting weekend. Texas is better than a lot of people think. They did this mostly with a true freshman QB.

Mississippi vs. Florida State(-4.5): MISS! Ole Miss looked like they had this in hand at halftime, then they fell apart. Thanks a lot!

I went a disappointing 16-24 in the first week. That puts me in a sizeable hole going forward. On the bright side, there should be nowhere to go but up!

Let’s check out the point system to see if it was any better:

1. 2-4 (-2)
2. 4-5 (-2)
3. 8-10 (-6)
4. 2-3 (-4)
5. 0-3 (-15)

I lost a total of 29 points this week, which leaves it as the single worst week during my points system scoring. We should know a little more about the teams heading into this week. Even some of the best predictors take it on the chin once in a while. This time I did, and it likely wont be the last time it happens.
