College Football Picks Against The Spread September 1-2

Can you feel it? The College Football season is almost here! It has been a long off-season, but we are under 50 hours away from the official start of the season!

Do you want the college football picks for every game? I’m sure a few internet searches could give you what you are looking for. How about against the spread? Now it gets a little tricky. You have several sites that will show you a handful of picks. You have more that will sell them to you. Here you will get every spread for every 1-A vs. 1-A football game. All season long!

More from College Football Odds

Last year, I went 400-366 for a 52.2% success rate. Picking every game, that isn’t such a bad rate. The more accurate rate was by the confidence point meter. I finished with 123 points on the season. I assign all games a rank from least confidence (1) to most (5). Look for those at the end of every line to see just how confident I am in each pick.

In case you don’t know what I do here, I pick every college football game of the season. Against the spread. Trust me, it’s not as easy as it sounds! I take the average of the odds from all of the Vegas casinos. I then round to the nearest half. There will be no ties here. Ties are for the other football (soccer).

We will get started this year with the games from Thursday, September 1, and Friday, September 2nd. A large number of the games in these two days feature games against 1-AA schools. These games will not be picked because it is too hard to get an accurate spread. Most casinos wont post a line on these games anyway.

There are 13 1-A vs. 1-A games over these two days. The rest of the picks will come your way by Friday evening. I want to get as accurate of a spread as possible. It is in your best interest as well as mine.

This is for entertainment purposes only! I cannot be responsible for you losing any of your worldly possessions (or limbs) because of my picks. These are a guideline that you can use to help you with your picks. I am a simple man. I can’t have that on my conscience.

Away we go, with the picks for the first part of week 1!

I missed the first pick of the year by a half point. We are off to a good start….

Charlotte at (19)Louisville(-39.5)(2): I would expect this line from a 1-AA school against Louisville, though this is practically the same thing. Charlotte has been 1-A for a couple of years now, but they are still getting up to speed. That said, I’m not sure I can take this line. 40 points is a lot. Give me Charlotte.

Tulane at Wake Forest(-16.5)(3): Wake has steadily improved, but they are still a doormat in the ACC. Tulane is not anywhere near the bottom of the ACC. Give me Wake.

Indiana(-9.5) at Florida International(4): I know Indiana’s defense is awful and it’s not getting better, but their offense is very good. FIU is going to find out the hard way. I’ll take Indiana for less than two scores.

Appalachian State at (9)Tennessee(-20.5)(5): The first five pointer of the year! Honestly, this looks low. Tennessee has a lot to prove this year. This line is down three points, and really shouldn’t be. I expect the Vols to come out swinging.

South Carolina at Vanderbilt(-4.5)(2): A conference game in week one? Yes, please! Even though it isn’t a heavyweight matchup, this should still be a good one. Vegas thinks so too. The Cocks opened as a four point favorite, but I think this has swung too far the other way. I see this as a three point win if Vandy can pull it off, but I like SC straight up anyway!

Rice at Western Kentucky(-16.5)(3): This line is up two points, and it shouldn’t be. The Hilltoppers offense lost a lot of weapons. QB Brandon Doughty and TE Tyler Higbee being the most important. They still have a lot of skill players back, but Rice isn’t very far removed from a conference championship. This seems high. I’m taking Rice.

Oregon State at Minnesota(-12.5)(5): I will let you in on a little secret: I expect the Gophers to win the Big Ten West (which is like winning the Sun Belt), so this line is too low. Give me the Gophers.

Ball State at Georgia State(-3.5)(3): This one is mostly a toss up. Georgia State is at home, and much more sophisticated offensively. I doubt this stays close. Give me the Panthers.

Army at Temple(-16.5)(3): I’m not really sure why this line is down five points. This is a pretty good Temple team. They may not be where they were last year, but they should be pretty close. Give me the Owls.

Colorado State vs. Colorado(-8.5) at Denver(2): Never trust a rivalry game. This stays at one score. The Rams always show up for this one. You can’t say the same for the Ralphies.

Kansas State at (8)Stanford(-14.5)(2): Can Christian McCaffrey play QB? Stanford started very slow last year (as in losing to Northwestern; a loss that kept them out of the playoff). This is another trap game on the road, not to mention another purple team. If they win, it wont be by more than two touchdowns. Give me K-State.

Toledo at Arkansas State(-3.5)(3): I don’t buy this. Kareem Hunt is a difference maker. Toledo straight up!
