College Football Results Against The Spread Week 12
This college football season has not been kind to me so far. I have only got 261 games right while missing 320. There is a long ways to go to get to .500, and time is running out.

I think I did better this week, but of course, I never really know until I jump right into it. My goal for the week was 35 correct out of 58. Letās see how I did in that quest!
Here are all of the college football results against the spread for week 12. Winners against the spread are inĀ BOLD.Ā My result will follow.

Kent State(-3.5) atĀ Bowling Green: HIT!Ā There is nothing like beating a spread by 38.5 points. Nothing.
OhioĀ at Central Michigan(EVEN):Ā MISS!Ā The Chippewas needed this more than Ohio, and it showed.
Ball StateĀ at Toledo(-20.5):Ā MISS!Ā Iām blaming this one on the fog. Yeah, that had to be it, because Toledo dominated this game.
Northern Illinois(-3.5)Ā at Eastern Michigan:Ā MISS!Ā Well, it was a great game, but you never know whatās going to happen once you surrender to overtime.
Louisville(-14.5) atĀ Houston: HIT!Ā You can tell Houston had this game on their minds for a long time. Too bad they didnāt treat the rest of their schedule the same way.
Arkansas StateĀ at Troy(-9.5):Ā HIT!Ā This wasnāt a good game, unless you are an Arkansas State fan. This got ugly early, and stayed that way.
UNLVĀ at Boise State(-28.5):Ā HIT!Ā This was easy money. Boise covers like the Texas Tech defense right now.
Memphis(-7.5)Ā at Cincinnati:Ā HIT!Ā The Bearcats are completely lost right now.

UTSAĀ at Texas A&M(-27.5):Ā HIT!Ā It will be hard to pick A&M games from here on out, but one thing is certain: they arenāt as explosive without Trevor Knight at QB.
Kansas State(-2.5)Ā at Baylor:Ā HIT!Ā I should have had more confidence in this than I did.
Louisiana-LafayetteĀ at Georgia(-22.5):Ā MISS!Ā Thanks, Georgia. You are supposed to crush those cupcakes!
UTEP atĀ Rice(-1.5):Ā MISS!Ā Okay, Iām through with UTEP. Enough is enough!
Oklahoma StateĀ at TCU(-4.5):Ā HIT!Ā This was the easiest money of the weekend. Bedlam is going to be an interesting one this year! It will be for the Big 12(10) title!
Ohio State(-21.5) atĀ Michigan State:Ā MISS!Ā I knew betterā¦.
Iowa(-9.5)Ā at Illinois:Ā HIT!Ā You know, at this point Iām not sure why Illinois even went back to Wes Lunt. Jeff George Jr. wasnāt particularly bad for a freshman. He just doesnāt have any talent around him.
Maryland atĀ Nebraska(-13.5):Ā Ryker Fyfe played his best game ever. He honestly looked better throwing the ball than Tommy Armstrong did.
Wisconsin(-27.5)Ā at Purdue:Ā HIT!Ā Yes, I am still surprised that Purdue scored 20 points. Perhaps more surprising was the fact that the Badgers still covered.
Virginia atĀ Georgia Tech(-10.5): HIT!Ā Buzz buzz. Buzz buzz. Channeling my inner John Belushi here.
Miami(FL)(-2.5)Ā at North Carolina State:Ā HIT!Ā If the Hurricanes manage to find some consistency (and Brad Kaaya returns), then they could be the front runners in the ACC next year.
FloridaĀ at LSU(-13.5):Ā MISS!Ā The Gators got the last laugh. They earned the right to get slaughtered by Bama in the SEC title game.
Connecticut atĀ Boston College(-7.5):Ā MISS!Ā Whoops!
Middle Tennessee State(-4.5):Ā at Charlotte:Ā MISS!Ā I definitely knew better here.
Massachusetts atĀ BYU(-28.5):Ā MISS!Ā UMass was actually up 6-0 at the end of the first quarter. Then the sky fell.
OregonĀ at Utah(-13.5):Ā MISS!Ā Utah just took a big hit in bowl seeding. The Ducks are hoping for someone to feel sorry for them and take them despite a losing record.
Georgia Southern(-2.5) atĀ Georgia State:Ā MISS!Ā For the second straight year, the Panthers win this rivalry game when it didnāt look like they had a chance.
Louisiana-MonroeĀ at Appalachian State(-25.5):Ā MISS!Ā And in the grand finale to a brutal afternoon slate, my seventh straight loss is by a stupid half pointā¦.

Duke atĀ Pittsburgh(-7.5): HIT!Ā I wish Pitt were a consistent team. I would have put more points on this one.
Florida State(-20.5)Ā at Syracuse:Ā HIT!Ā Man, Dalvin Cook is a monster.
Buffalo atĀ Western Michigan(-34.5): HIT!Ā The Broncos woke up in the second half after a lethargic first.
Washington State atĀ Colorado(-4.5):Ā MISS!Ā This was tough because I am a big fan of both teams this year. I expected more from the Cougars, but Liufau is impressive.
San Diego State(-9.5) atĀ Wyoming: HIT!Ā What a crazy game this was! I knew it was going to be a lot closer than this.
Virginia TechĀ at Notre Dame(EVEN):Ā HIT!Ā What a comeback by the Hokies! And another terrible choke job by the Irish. Is Brian Kelly in trouble?
Missouri atĀ Tennessee(-16.5):Ā MISS!Ā Thanks for that fourth quarter meltdown, Mizzou! They stuck around for most of the game until they quit trying.
Temple(-14.5)Ā at Tulane:Ā HIT!Ā Does 31 points count as a lot in college football anymore? At any rate, Iām taking the win.
Texas Tech(-3.5) atĀ Iowa State:Ā MISS!Ā Holy Schlitz! Where in the world did that come from? I know Iowa State has been getting progressively better as the season goes on, but wow! This was impressive. The Cyclones scored their most points since 1980. This was also their largest conference win ever.
Texas(-24.5) atĀ Kansas: HIT!Ā I never expected Kansas to win this outright. This may be the straw that breaks Charlie Strongās back. Giving Kansas itsĀ first conference win in 19 tries and losing to a team for the first time since 1938 is the kind of thing that loses jobs. Even worse than that is the fact that Texas was in control of the game for 3.5 quarters.
Indiana at Michigan(-24.5):Ā HIT!Ā This shouldnāt have surprised anyone. The Michigan offense got lucky with Speight at QB. The rest of them arenāt good enough to effectively run this offense.
Northwestern(-1.5) atĀ Minnesota:Ā MISS!Ā This just shows why I picked the Gophers to win the Big Ten West. They are capable of games like this. They just arenāt consistent.
Navy(-7.5)Ā at East Carolina:Ā MISS!Ā Ouch!
Utah State(-6.5) atĀ Nevada:Ā MISS!Ā There is a reason that I only put one point on this mess.
Texas State atĀ New Mexico State(-9.5): HIT!Ā As if a minor bus accident on the way to the game wasnāt bad enough, the Bobcats lost by 40 once they got there.
Stanford(-10.5)Ā at California:Ā HIT!Ā Stanford woke up. Better yet, they have a QB that can take the pressure off of Christian McCaffrey.
Southern Mississippi(-6.5) atĀ North Texas: HIT!Ā No matter what, this was a successful season for Southern Miss, even thought they collapsed at the end.

Old Dominion(-8.5)Ā at Florida Atlantic:Ā HIT!Ā Old Dominion is going to be an interesting team to watch during bowl season.
Marshall(-2.5) atĀ Florida International: HIT!Ā Wowā¦..Marshallā¦..how the mighty, or even the not-so-mighty, have fallen.
Clemson(-22.5) atĀ Wake Forest: HIT!Ā The half goes my way. I need it!
Hawaii(-3.5) atĀ Fresno State: HIT!Ā If you would have told me that this was going to be a 14-13 game, my reply would have been āat the end of the first quarter?ā
ArkansasĀ at Mississippi State(-1.5):Ā HIT!Ā This line was bogus. I should have put five on it.
South Florida(-12.5) atĀ SMU: HIT!Ā Look out for SMU next year. They are going to be a fun team to watch.
Arizona StateĀ at Washington(-26.5):Ā MISS!Ā Damn you Sparky and that two point conversion!
Oklahoma(-3.5)Ā at West Virginia:Ā HIT!Ā I really want to believe that Oklahoma is different this year. I really do. I know they arenāt. I will just get this out there. I donāt wantĀ anyĀ two loss team in the playoffs, not even mine. Why? Because that will break down the door for an eight team playoff. Four is plenty. We have essentially had playoff games for the last month. Donāt take this excitement away during the college football regular season.
Mississippi(-9.5) atĀ Vanderbilt:Ā MISS!Ā Wellā¦..okay thenā¦.
Penn State(-27.5)Ā at Rutgers:Ā HIT!Ā Just another blowout for what may be the best team in the Big Ten(14)ā¦ā¦
TulsaĀ at Central Florida(EVEN):Ā HIT!Ā I was expecting a better game, but a win is a win is a win.
New Mexico atĀ Colorado State(-4.5):Ā MISS!Ā I guess I got too caught up in the New Mexico rushing attack. They canāt pass to save their lives.
Arizona atĀ Oregon State(-5.5):Ā MISS!Ā Remember like three months ago when Arizona was supposed to be good? Many, including myself, thought that the Beavers would be the one with the 2-9 record at this point in the season.
USC(-13.5)Ā at UCLA:Ā HIT!Ā Well, being the kings of LA lasted about two years for the Bruins. Itās better than nothing!
Air Force(-11.5) atĀ San Jose State:Ā MISS!Ā Nice defense there Air Forceā¦..

I went 33-25 this week to turn in my best week of the season. This makes me happier than it should, especially when you consider that my season total is still an ugly 294-345. The odds of me getting to .500 with only two full weeks and the bowls left are astronomical.
Did my point system finally finish in the black? It needs it as well! My season totals are in parentheses:
1.Ā 3-4 (51-59) -8
2.Ā 13-10 (114-111) +6
3.Ā 12-7 (76-110) -102
4.Ā 3-2 (39-39) 0
5.Ā 2-3 (14-27) -65
I managed to gain 19 points this week, but I am still 169 down on the season and 46 down over my two years of doing this. A good week was once again trumped by my ineptitude at five point picks. I guess I should just stick to even numbers.
