DraftKings Main MLB Picks For May 10
Nine of the 14 major league games (the Yankees and Reds are off) take place in the evening, which is where the main DraftKings tournament is! There are a lot better pitching options tonight, and maybe even a bargain or two thrown in there. Who is the best stack since Coors is in the afternoon? Let’s check some stats!

The money line last night was back up to 122.75. My Nationals stack lineup didn’t do well, but the other two lineups both placed. The Yankees stack was on the cut line at 122.75. The A’s stack with Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander was comfortably in at 131.90.
The winning lineup was up to 223.6 DraftKings points. He gambled on Hector Santiago with Scherzer like I was going to. His Phillies/Mariners stack with a side of Mookie Betts won him the grand prize.
NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. The highest scorer of the day could be someone with no experience against his opponent. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players. Check out this post from Matt McGarvey for great tips about whether to use a hot player in DFS or not.

Next: DraftKings Main Lineup 1

P: Yu Darvish ($10,700): The Padres are struggling on offense. Only three current Padres have faced Darvish. Erick Aybar has hit him well, but that’s it. The Padres strike out a lot and don’t score a lot of runs. When you have a talent like Darvish going up against a lineup like this, there is potential for a big game here.
P: Danny Salazar ($9,700): The Blue Jays are only hitting .214 in 42 at bats against Salazar with just four runs and 12 strikeouts. The Jays were blanked by Carlos Carrasco last night, and are still having issues scoring runs. Salazar’s past stats are enough for me to roll with him again tonight!
C: Alex Avila ($3,200): Avila is enjoying a great season so far, hitting .360 with four homers and 13 RBI. Facing righty Zack Godley will put Avila back in the lineup in a better hitting environment than he is used to. This is going to be a high scoring game in the desert tonight. I am definitely interested in a lot of bats from both sides here.
1B: Edwin Encarnacion ($4,100): Encarnacion is 2-5 in his career against Francisco Liriano. Both of those hits are home runs, and he has driven in three. Those are good odds if you are hunting homers.
2B: Brad Miller ($3,700): Miller is 2-5 with a solo homer against Jason Hammel. I wouldn’t recommend him in formats that count strikeouts against you. He has struck out the three times that he hasn’t made contact.
3B: Joey Gallo ($3,700): Luis Perdomo is taking a huge park hit here moving to Arlington. Gallo is striking out a lot, but he has shown his awesome power early on in this season. He may never hit .260, but 40 homers are a real possibility. He could add another notch here tonight.
SS: Alcides Escobar ($3,000): I know many will be on Chris Archer tonight because of the recent struggles of the Royals offense, but I wont be one of them. The Royals are hitting .311 in 74 at bats against Archer with 12 runs scored. The 16 strikeouts are nice, but it’s hard to overlook all the runs. Escobar is an impressive 9-15(.600) with two doubles, three runs scored, and two RBI against Archer. Lorenzo Cain is also hitting .500 with a homer and four RBI against Archer if you are looking for a mini stack of Royals.
OF: Justin Upton ($4,200): Upton is the only Tiger that has faced Godley before. He doubled and struck out in two at bats. I don’t mind having him in my mini Tigers stack.
OF: Cody Bellinger ($3,900): Surprisingly, Chad Kuhl has pitched well against the Dodgers. Well, he has never faced Cody Bellinger before. Bellinger is worth rolling out there until he cools off. Especially against right handed pitchers with questionable stuff.
OF: Andrew McCutchen ($3,800): McCutchen has only faced Kenta Maeda three times, netting two hits. Both of those are home runs, and he drove in four. Keep in mind that this was last year, when McCutchen had a down year by his standards. He is a threat to hit Maeda well again.
Next: DraftKings Main Lineup 2

P: Lance Lynn ($8,400): Lynn has held the Marlins to a .188 average in 69 at bats with only one homer and an impressive 22 strikeouts. They have managed to score eight runs against Lynn, but if he is racking up the strikeouts like that, we wont really notice. Lynn also has a great chance at a win against Tom Koehler. Only Giancarlo Stanton has taken Lynn deep, but he is just 2-12 with six strikeouts against Lynn. You can play those odds if you want, but there are better options.

P: Stephen Strasburg ($10,400): This series moves south, which is a bit of good news for Strasburg since the Orioles wont have the benefit of the DH. Only six Orioles have ever faced Strasburgh. They didn’t do very well. A three run homer by Mark Trumbo was the only damage, and Strasburg struck out 13 of the 27 batters he faced. You can deal with a homer or two with that many strikeouts!
C: Jett Bandy ($2,700): Regardless of who starts, I want either Bandy or Manny Pina in my lineup. Kyle Kendrick didn’t magically improve because of his move to Boston. He has a career 4.66 ERA for a reason.
1B: Eric Thames ($4,600): Thames is one of the two Brewers that has faced Kyle Kendrick before. He has a single, a homer, and two RBI against him in four at bats. Look for Thames to pad his stats some more in this glorified batting practice. It could be for both sides. Chase Anderson has struggled lately.
2B: Brandon Drury ($3,300): I made a mini-stack of Tigers in the first lineup. Now you get a maxi stack of Brewers and Diamondbacks. Both teams score a lot of runs, and Arizona in particular has a lot of right handed power against a lefty in a hitter’s park.
3B: Miguel Sano ($4,300): The suspension is over, now he can get back to mashing left handed pitching. Well, what do you know! The White Sox are sending Derek Holland to the hill tonight! Look out in the left field bleachers!
SS: Chris Owings ($3,700): Right handers are hitting .273 against Matt Boyd in his career with 29 home runs in only 578 at bats. Some balls are leaving Chase Field tonight. A few of them may even get wet!
OF: Ryan Braun ($4,900): Braun is the other Brewer that has faced Kendrick before. He is 9-21(.429) with a walk, a double, two homers, four runs scored, and an impressive seven RBI. Expect the rest of the Brewers lineup to have as much success as Braun has had against him.
OF: A.J. Pollock ($3,900): See also: Owings, Chad.
OF: Yasmany Tomas ($3,700): See also: Owings, Chad and Pollock, A.J.
